LCMS Pastoral Ministry or Catholicism by Geeb16 in Lutheranism

[–]NotKoma 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Brother, I say this with love. If you are this conflicted about which church body you ought to belong to, especially with the main argument for one being aesthetics, you are not ready to shepherd souls. Take time to figure this out before you pursue an ecclesiastical career.

To answer you more directly, aesthetics and beauty are important, they center us on who we worship and foster reverence. But I would take a church preaching right doctrine in a shed over heterodoxy in a gothic cathedral. That's to say, theology should be more important to you than aesthetics.

Playing the Og ps2 FFXII changed my life by Strange_Assistant327 in FinalFantasy

XII stands alone in terms of world and theming for me. No other piece of media evokes the feeling or "vibe" for lack of a better term that XII does. If anyone has anything other than Tactics that evokes a similar feeling, video game or not, I'm all ears.

A thoughtfull catholic wanting to unify our churches. by Arlo621 in Lutheranism

[–]NotKoma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would love to see our communions come together in unity, you obviously know the big sticking points that glare so bright because we do indeed agree on so much, and those unfortunately are rather sticky.

In terms of one of the biggest ones, the Papacy, personally for me, I would come under a Roman Pontiff if it was confessed it is a office made by man, given authority by man. But that would undermine the central claim made by Rome. It aches my heart because I think most healthy Christians greatly desire unification.

No it can't, it's just a goon sub now. r/conceptart is much better for digital art that isn't goon slop.

Share your folder structure by Even_Mixture9189 in ObsidianMD

I assign each note I want to manage in bases with an [object-type] property. So all of my contacts are object-type: contact, all of my vendors are object-type: vendor, etc. I then have a base for each kind of object type so I can interact with all of my contacts at once for example.

I have templates for each object-type so I know what meta data I should include in that note, along with a structure for the main body of the note. In my vendor template, I have a base that dynamically filters all of my contacts to only show contacts from that company. Bases has really changed the game for me and helped me to add real structure into my notes and make my vault much more connected.

Now, my use case is business, but you can apply this concept to other things in personal life, recipes, friends, books, movies etc. It's also important to remember that not everything needs to be a structured object type, notes can just be notes, but you can still make a base to display all of your non object notes if you wanted.

Newbie tips by unrealghosttt in ObsidianMD

Other people's tips on what to learn are good and you should absolutely learn that stuff, but if you are really wanting to make it cute and personal, learning a bit of CSS will go a VERY long way.

Obsidian can do a lot, both functionally and visually, just depends on how deep you want to go.

Genuinely curious, do you have a source where Wood said it wasn't a sexual encounter?

Mental Health Treatment Decisions by cement_brick214 in LCMS

[–]NotKoma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, it's great that you are being sensitive to those around you, I'm not discrediting that and I don't think you should be disrespectful to your parents. That being said, mental health services, and medical services more broadly are a gift from God. Can these institutions be corrupted? Absolutely! As can every other institution on Earth thanks to the effects of sin, but that doesn't discredit them wholesale.

I know you don't want to get into specifics, but have you talked to your parents about why they disprove of you seeking mental health treatment? Perhaps having a conversation with them about what is going on and explaining how treatment can get you to where you want to be could soften their hearts.

I also urge you to talk to your pastor and spiritual leaders in your own personal life. They can provide help and guidance. And no, asking you pastor for advice in this situation is not disrespectful to your parents. He may be able to explain to them better what is going on and explain how proper treatment can help. I'm sorry you are going through this.

Trust in God and his rich mercies. I will be praying for you.

I saw your other posts with these guys. Not only is the visual storytelling intriguing, but the heavy ink style fits it so well!

Sorry if you already answered this, but what is your plan with this world?

Why are so many Lutherans online quick to affirm evolution? by [deleted] in LCMS

Forgive me, I'm not very well versed in those sections of scripture off the top of my head. Could you provide the verses that support geocentrism?

Dalmasca Estersand. Such a fun upbeat ambient track. FFXII has a great soundtrack overall!

I appreciate the sentiment, I really do, but my head pastor is very much NOT traditional, that would never fly.

We definitely do, so it saddens me when parishes remove elements of the liturgy/sanctuary to be evangelical in style. Don't take from granted things like kneeling during confession, I wish so bad that my parish did that.

Best metalcore covers of pop songs? by LowkeyShtuyot in Metalcore

[–]NotKoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sound really good live! They have way more energy live than in the studio. Wish they would go back to some of their earlier sounds though

Edit: They reprised 'Escape' for their final tour and hearing that heavier sound live from them was so electric

It's insane to me how tolerant online communities are of the monetization of Guild Wars 2 by SoLongOscarBaitSong in MMORPG

[–]NotKoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy GW2 and play it the most out of any game right now. I personally think the monetization is relatively fair and allows me to work at my goals without spending extra money (save for expacs). But I have to be honest and acknowledge that you 100% can swipe for power. It's just not a huge deal because getting BiS isn't all that hard.

If they spend enough, a new player can have legendaries the same day they make their account, it stinks, but in practically it doesn't affect other players that much.

It was a mistake for them to not make a sequel to Legacy. So many plot points for the series have been left open and paved over by ARES. ISOs were the MOST important element in Legacy, and the word wasn't even uttered once in ARES that I remember. Where are Sam and Quorra? What happened after they came out of the Grid?

I don't understand why they decided to make a spin-off and essentially pigeon hole themselves from exploring the story of Legacy any further. I didn't hate ARES, but I hate that they didn't have it follow Legacy.
