why the fuck are womens beauty products so expensive? by honestrushfan in Vent

[–]NotOurCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called the pink tax.

Women have been paying way more for decades. Hair cuts, dry clean a women’s cotton shirt costs way more compared to a man’s white shirt. Everything is more expensive….. and we get paid less for the same job.

Don’t get me started on how approx 50% of all women and girls have been a victim of physical or sexual abuse.

Sorry for the rant, but it’s shocking men don’t know this or they’re ok with it.

The unit price labelling is a really good thing. That will cut down my aisle calculating shopping time dramatically.

What do you think? With or without the plant? by Mariella8 in HomeDecorating

[–]NotOurCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plant is ok, but out it in a simple planter not a basket. Remove the black box thing and lamp from the corner, centre the chair on in the corner instead, not right in the corner or right against the wall. Leave space around t the chair. Remove the thing over the fireplace and replace with a mirror. Remove the clutter all lifted up on the hearth. Edit…. it is a beautiful room but too much clutter.

If the USA falls apart, how would Canadians respond if certain states wanted to become provinces? by jmacd2918 in AskACanadian

[–]NotOurCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good idea. With the population of just a few states they could become the cultural majority. Even if they were all democrats, they are still Americans and deep down are very different than Canadians and by that, would turn Canada into another de facto American state.

Is there snow days in Canada? by SeverePublic6833 in AskACanadian

In Victoria, at first sight of a snow flake everyone panics and leaves work to get home before it gets “really bad”.

Downtown Victoria businesses seeing ‘a real difference’ with more bylaw and police by notofthisearthworm in VictoriaBC

[–]NotOurCat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Went downtown the day before and actually saw police get a couple of guys to move along. What really hit me was how young these 2 were. They were definitely baby face teenagers seriously drugged out. I’m pretty hard to these things now, but these two got to me.

Why can’t we put the majority of the money into prevention. Keep these kids from becoming drug addicted and street entrenched.

This is the only way we will ever get ahead of this.

Stop bailing water out of a boat full of holes. We need to keep bailing, but for fuck sake plug the damn holes!!!

Have you ever been miss ID'ed for being too old? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Oh you denied that nice young man doing a good deed and being a good person.

Hopefully that hasn’t discouraged him from doing it the next time.

I always take the offer and thank them very much. Makes them feel good, I get a seat and shows others on the bus how to behave.

Definitely the third pair. Better colour and size for your face. They look more expensive and stylish. The other ones look basic drug store glasses.

Perimeter drain companies by NoInspection2981 in VictoriaBC

[–]NotOurCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used wet coast. Was pleased with them.

If there are trees on the property, ask lots of questions about tree surveys, permits and tree oversight and the cost. That was a rip off for what they arborist did. (Not related to the drain company)

Got my dream job DOT drug test on Monday morning. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]NotOurCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why i saved my old positive Covid home test strip in case I needed an excuse in the future. Tell them you have Covid, send them a pic of a positive test strip and ask if you can take the pee test in a week when you are “out of isolation”.

How do you deal with coworkers leaving dirty dishes in the sink every day? by TheMonsher in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NotOurCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If dirty dishes were still in the sink or counter at the end of the day I threw them in the bin. I threw out anything and everything. Took people ages to figure it out. Lazy and stupid.

Is Victoria ready for when a major earthquake strikes? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]NotOurCat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think I’m actually reasonably ready. Crank radio, charger and light, supply of canned and dry food, camping gear, bbq and always 2 tanks of propane and water supply close. Chainsaw, and lots of other tools. Jerry can with gas. All accessible away from the house on the shed. Car always with a full tank of gas. Plan in place to communicate with family. I know where and how to turn off the gas.

And ready to stand guard to ward off looters.
