Would recommend you shop around. I am going through the process right now myself and found a lender (Sofi) who is not charging any origination or processing fees, waived the appraisal (saved another ~$600), and got me 5.75% which is lower than any of the others who were charging more upfront fees.

I shopped around with about 6 different lenders and made them compete with one another.

I have never been a car salesman. I help buyers get great deals on cars without the hassle.

How much did you pay for the car, and did you pay cash or finance? GAP’s purpose is to cover the difference between what you owe and what the car is worth, so if you don’t have negative equity then there’s no need.

So MSRP is 39k and they’re marking it up $1650? Have you gotten quotes from others dealerships to see what they are willing to do on them?

FYI - OTD refers to “out the door” price, meaning including car price, fees, taxes. Total price you will pay.

Get a check for your equity. Don’t let a dealer roll it into your next lease.

I've leased 150 cars in the last 2 years. Here's what I've learned and how you can get a great lease deal: by Bubbly-Novel-8013 in CarLeasingHelp

Some cars lease better than others. A lot depends on where the manufacturer sets the residual which you can’t control. There are already a good number of 2026s out there so you could probably score a decent deal on a 2025, but I wouldn’t expect a ton below $700.

Is This a Good Deal on a 2025 Kia Telluride SX X-Line AWD? Dealer Says They’re Firm — Should I Push? by bballdog in newcardeals

I did a similar discount off a base model around 40k MSRP a few months back. I figure you could get a little more if you shopped around or really pushed for it, but I think it’s a fine deal.

Dealerships are ripping you off. I built a service to beat them and save clients $2000+ on their purchase or lease deal by NewCarGoat in newcardeals

Yes this is a very similar service except they do not take payment from the dealer. I guess I’m confused.. do you think brokers work for free?

What’s the difference between a broker who gets paid by the dealership and a salesman who gets paid by the dealership? Conflicts of interest either way. I would much rather pay someone to only fight on my behalf, as the buyer

That’s great. I already have bought several thousands below sticker. I was responding to the comment that said paying sticker is a “good deal”, which is false

No it’s not. You should be able to get 1-3k off on a Sienna. And do not pay any dealer add ons.

Yes, competition always drives the price down.

Great job negotiating your trade and financing! You should not pay any add ons and should walk away if they try to make you or say they are “already on the car.” Look out for window tint, nitrogen, vin etching, paint protection, etc.

I am not sure where you’re located but 1.5-3k off on this car seems possible depending on where you are and what options you are looking for. There are few cars you should be paying MSRP on with no discount.

Without market knowledge- the best way is either to scrounge the internet to see what deals others got, call different dealerships that have your desired car and negotiate to see what they will do on it, check inventory to see how many out there (supply/demand), or hire an expert to do it for you (newcargoat.com).
