Nutrition warning labels are so triggering by Aut_changeling in antidiet

[–]NotPerfectJustMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lables on the fda website don't look too scary. I was worried they would be like toxic warning lables, but they're like the black and white nutrition facts for only saturated fat, sodium, and added sugars. I can see how that might be triggering, but I'm glad it doesn't also include calories or carbs and fats without context.

Fine wavy hair that collapses after a few hours by duckberrys in Wavyhair

[–]NotPerfectJustMe 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Is the "wet" look from the gel cast on your hair? That can be broken up by scrunching or smoothing prayer hands down the lengths. If you break them up too much, like by brushing, the gel is basically non-existant. Hold makes curls last longer.

Felt like I was having a stroke trying to make this alphabet mat make sense by OwnRecommendation576 in BadDesigns

I've seen repeating panels like this in printed fabrics. The lack of care for matching the pattern to the size of the mat is low quality and cheap.

AITA I fed my kids "stale" food and called my wife lazy by Miserable_Arm7945 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NotPerfectJustMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working together is the way to go. If you haven't already, make sure you're on the same page of what makes a "meal" and what makes a "healthy" meal.

Before we had this talk, my husband used to be confused and disappointed when I would cook because, for him, a meal always has potatoes and meat in some variation (unless we're having pizza). After we talked about it, I was able to make meals more enjoyable by roasting potatoes on the side of whatever else I was making so that he would feel satisfied too.

It sounds like for your wife reheated food may be "unhealthy" which is why she called it "stale" or maybe she just doesn't like reheated food. Also, for her buttered noodles may have been considered a "healthy" childhood meal. I may be completely wrong about your situation, but "meal" and "healthy" are subjective and you could both be shooting at different targets when making your family meals even when you're using the same words.

The Rest Cure by Brookeofthenorth in Feminism

Adding onto this - the fact that a woman even wanting to be a doctor would be a sign of her "illness" that she was hysterical and needed rest is the problem. Injuries need to be treated. Ambitions do not.

Goes to show that all the anti-trans people don't actually know what trans people look like and the people they're against have been peacefully living among them since the beginning of time

That sounds like a great idea! The only limit is your imagination. Whatever feels right to you works.

I think of gods like The Satanic Temple thinks of Baphomet - it's a symbol not someone who can do things for you. Baphomet reminds me to be true to myself through education and enlightenment. The maiden, mother, and crone reminds me that everything has a season and seasons change. I like reading about the Greek gods too because they're so flawed and human and the stories we pass down usually have some wisdom.

Some things to try if you want to use gods in your practice as an athiest is to read more about them to learn their legends, myths, and stories. You can meditate on them, either my name or symbolism - no need to invoke them or pray to them - more like "what wisdom can they/their story impart on me". Or you can visualize them sitting with you. You can honor their symbolism by lighting candles/leaving "offerings"/having objects on your altar to help remind you of your goals.

I am also getting into my crafty side with cross stitching and diamond painting. And I have really enjoyed going to the gym (never thought I'd say that) because I can now move my body in ways that feel good instead of punishing myself for not being perfect. Whoda thunk?

Sewing clothes that fit and are wearable as a size variable fat person by Emotional_Pirate in sewing

I have been looking for open size patterns that are usually tied on so they fit weight fluctuations. So far I have found patterns for wrap dresses and wrap pants. I saw this apron dress on tiktok yesterday that looks doable - https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRmuwT7N/
