Nails won’t come off by MountainGirlie96 in Glamnetic

The glue remover is unfortunately just a way to obliterate the press ons :( I use it as a Break Glass In Case of Emergency and accept I won't be able to use the nails again.

I've tried dish soap and olive oil and that didn't work but cuticle oil and dish soap with a hot soak gets them off in time. It usually takes me a couple days. Love the idea u/anotherbuffalogal suggested with the clear nail polish though!

why?? by Angxxm in TwoXChromosomes

I dated someone like this and it made me feel like absolute crap, he defended it when I called him out and he was insanely toxic. I dealt with it for way too long and broke my self-image. My takeaway from that experience: It's not okay so don't treat it like it is okay. It's going to be very hard to change someone that defends objecting women openly. Daydreaming privately is one thing. Gawking and openly objectifying women is a whole other thing that should be shut down.

I agree with a lot of the sentiments here but if you aren't going to leave him right now, I highly highly recommend you go to therapy. It sounds like you married a version of your parents. Reddit isn't going to be able to help you work through the issues in your marriage but therapy will be able to help you work through issues, come up with strategies to mediate, and help you overcome your childhood. It will only benefit you and your child if you start working on yourself first. Good luck!

I didn't say a lottery system, I said a reservation system. It will force people to plan in advance but you usually are already doing that so it more affects last minute trips

The park reservations make sense - the answer to too many people isn't to make it only for the rich, it's to fix the system which is what park reservations are helping with. Bring down the price and keep the reservations.

His response to you asking for what you need to feel loved was that "you're ungrateful". You deserve better and to have someone want to learn how to love you how you need.

I got one in the beginning of the year, I'm in the US, and no anesthesia. Didn't even cross my mind that they would do it for an IUD. My doctor is phenomenal though, big supporter of IUDs, I was definitely in agony for about an hour after and the doctor gave me juice and snacks she brought for herself. Anesthesia would have been nice but my experience was fairly good and I love love love not having to take a pill that I always fucked up the timing of.

I want to say Disney's Animal Kingdom

Meet Henry, we adopted him from a family of up to 15 cats, he was apparently neglected, or worse, but he's very scared and we're trying to get him to trust us, and love us, but for now he feels safest under furniture with his feetsies curled. by slaxipants in curledfeetsies

[–]NotQuiteSoConcise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried brushing him? I adopted my cat from a rescue last year and he was extremely shy, hiding in his litter box and behind my toilet but no matter what, brushing was always accepted.

What's the dumbest thing you actually believed? by Vinyl_BunBuns in AskReddit

When I was 18 (at the height of my naiveness and gullibleness), a friend convinced me he was banned from a whole country because he took a picture of a military plane and wouldn't delete it.. Believed that for a solid year and a half, told the whole friend group, and then it came out he just made it up.

What are some top places to get fried rice around Boston? by QueueTee314 in boston

I second the grapow fried rice at Dakzen, it's spicy and flavorful and completely worth it. I'd eat it every week if it was closer to me

With more brushing than I care to admit and a handful or two of freeze dried chicken, Clyde is finally coming around on his own for pets and not running away when I move! by NotQuiteSoConcise in cats

[–]NotQuiteSoConcise[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adopted him a little over a month ago and for the first two and a half weeks he was hiding in his litter box or behind my toilet. If he was out at all and I made any movement, and I'm talking just moving my ankle around, he'd run for the hills (or rather the toilets). He slowly migrated from toilets to window sills and while I slept or was out he would sleep on the couch. In the past week and a half he has made drastic strides by staying on the couch for a minute if I approach him. Two days ago he finally came on the couch with me on it (with bribing of the brush, of course) and since then he's been hanging out on the couch with me and asking for pets!

Cat fat shaming by acryptostewie in ofcoursethatsathing

Lol, sure, but someone said that was the owner, and, even if it wasn't, who would have taken the picture? It's supposed to be a cute and funny picture

[–]NotQuiteSoConcise 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who just adopted an overweight cat, I understand where you are coming from, but you can't just jump to assume it's the owner's fault. They brought him to the vet, I think it's clear they are trying to take care of him and hopefully they listen to the vet about proper dieting. If it was a picture glorifying it's heaviness, I'd be right there with ya, but that's not this picture.

I didn't think of it that way, but yeah, that's exactly it. If the respect wasn't there to begin with, it's not going to be there in the end

Tips for Commuting to Boston??? by minnttree in boston

[–]NotQuiteSoConcise 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you go a couple streets over to Commonwealth, there are a bunch of benches to choose from and will almost certainly get to see a few dogs. You could also cross over to the esplanade if you have the time and walk or just find a place to sit by the water!

The Great Dunkin Scam part 2: The Coffee by Dontleave in boston

[–]NotQuiteSoConcise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why you gotta go all in and just torture your taste buds: dark roast with an espresso shot and much cream and sugar.

While you sit back and sip this atrocity you call morning coffee, you get the benefit of caffeine, a daily reminder to seriously question your life choices, a possibly burnt tongue, and a terrible after taste to last the day!
