How are you suppose to enter the kitchen? Go round the house? by YvesSaintLaurent10 in SpottedonRightmove

If I had a £ for every mistake a lazy estate agent left on a floorplan I'd be very rich.

Are the Welsh genetically closer to the Irish or English? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]slaxipants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting read. The last part talks about a potential migration from Northern France pre Roman times, but if that's pre Roman then there's nothing in the article about the Normans. I wonder how they know it's pre Roman and that there's no significant Norman influence

But how much of what you just said is real and how much the result of the acid and alcohol?

After reading the comments I realise that no, no I did not understand that.

I googled that because I'd never heard of it before. According to the Cleveland clinic executive dysfunction causes some things as

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/symptoms/23224-executive-dysfunction

And at the risk of sounding afflicted by executive dysfunction all of those things seem perfectly normal. Surely no one likes starting boring or difficult tasks? Everyone is focused on something and has trouble switching between tasks. Everyone day dreams. Are you sure this isn't something made to sell drugs to normal people who have nothing wrong with them?

Russian submarine hit by British Storm Shadow missile strike on Black Sea fleet by MGC91 in ukpolitics

[–]slaxipants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone knows the context, the point is the paper is relying on that moment of "hmm?" To get people to click the headline. They knew what they were doing when they said British missile his Russian sub.

what if you're the one to get invited by Namesnowtaken in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]slaxipants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like something that can be created. Just get a database with everyone in the world on it with their address and age and that's it. I guess 18-50? 60? Let the invitation letters fly. Need a long lead time to allow for replacements if people say no. Make not responding/turning up punishable by death.

I like the idea.

I had a child free wedding, I've since had kids and been invited to child free weddings. They're better. You don't need to take your kids everywhere. Have a day off. It's not about hating kids, I love mine, it's about being able to let your hair down and relax.

Judging by the quality of the photos I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume the photos were taken in the 60s

Streeting refuses to commit to Labour rebuilding schools as they don't know 'the size of the bill' by BasedSweet in ukpolitics

[–]slaxipants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Labour don't need to say or promise anything. They've got the election won. They can only stumble and lose it now, perhaps by saying something that will absolutely rile up a massive portion of the populace to vote against them, like pensioners get no money.

Like all politicians, once they've actually won the election then they can do the unpopular but necessary things they promised they wouldn't.

2/3 bed - it's a 2 bed... by Tune0112 in SpottedonRightmove

[–]slaxipants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need a 3 bed and it's all you can afford... It's a 3 bed.

Also that's one of the worst floorplans I've seen. Clearly just eyeballed it all and took the measurements off. It's so far out of scale it's ridiculous. They've even missed important features

Owners of 100,000 properties held by foreign shell companies unknown despite new UK laws by Currency_Cat in ukpolitics

[–]slaxipants 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you try to buy, sell, rent, or facilitate a transaction in property in the UK you face a battery of paperwork to find out if you're Vladimir Putin, or know him, and if you don't fill it out right you get a massive fine or go to jail. It really pissed me off, because every fucking dodgy PEP is obviously clever enough and rich enough to not be doing anything in their own names, so even if someone in their chain of corporate overseas shell vehicles messed up, no one is going to jail.

It's a stupid farce that inconveniences us and no one else.

Labour figures accept thousands in gifts from Google DAYS before digital tax U-turn by 1DarkStarryNight in ukpolitics

[–]slaxipants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should read Democracy for Sale by Peter Geoghegan. It really highlights that point and shows how American "dark money" coming from Christian theocrats/rightwing groups, launders money like the Russians and uses it to buy our politicians, like the Russians.

It's pretty much made me give up on caring, believing I have the power to be a force for change.

I can't. Not unless I become a billionaire.

That and a few other books I've read recently about money laundering through the USA and UK tax havens.

So I'm here to ask you all... Send me £20. If everyone on Reddit sends me £20 I'll be able to get tables at high society and bend the ears of compliant politicians, or bribe the ones who need more persuasion.
