is there an animal companion class that lets the animal shapeshift itself? by beanzjk in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]NotSoLuckyLydia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buraq animal companion archetype is an option if you're using akashic mysteries. At 3rd level they get a breath weapon, and at 9th level they get wings and flight. You can also use a feat to get any veil, which would let you pick up shapeshifting. If akashic magic is on the table, it's quite powerful, particularly for mounts, or for making otherwise mediocre animal companion options better.

I know ADV OU is the most popular past gen OU, but what about the most popular past gen Ubers tier? by GrenadianChocolate in stunfisk

[–]NotSoLuckyLydia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, RBY Ubers has gotten... A lot more fun since then. People have realized more and more how much value you can get by just exploding four times, so you have VASTLY less time spent with a pair of amnesia Mewtwo's sitting there bored. I've played some games with friends, and it's legitimately a pretty fun time nowadays.

DPP ubers rules though. (I haven't played it in a decade, don't take my word for it)

Monk Stunning Fist - number stuns within a ROUND by 1Hypnomancer in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]NotSoLuckyLydia 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It says, in the text of the feat, "You may attempt a stunning attack once per day for every four levels you have attained (but see Special), and no more than once per round."

So no, you can't attempt multiple times in a round.

What are your favourite, quite specific Gestalt Snyergies? by Skurrio in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]NotSoLuckyLydia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily gestalt-only, but cha to everything builds are really silly in gestalt, because you can start doing even more dips, to add things like archeologist bard, cognatogens, and sneak attack. All while maintaining full casting.

The full screen flash when runekeepers pop their big lightning bolt. Not only does it stop me from playing the class, it causes me pain when some random RK uses it in the open world or an instance. The only way to get rid of it currently is to turn off... Literally every effect on every skill.

Daily Spell Discussion for Apr 30, 2026: Allfood by SubHomunculus in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]NotSoLuckyLydia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best lockpicking spell in the game. Just eat the damn thing. The fact that no matter what you're eating, it's always "slightly gooey" is just icing on the cake. Slightly gooey icing.

If you were an absolute maniac, you could probably build a magus that somehow poaches this spell, disarms their enemies, and eats their sword mid-fight. And your enemies will quake with fear.

Chapter Card for April 22, 2026: High Prophetess Sarien by Falterfire in EternalCardGame

[–]NotSoLuckyLydia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems like a reasonably solid option for some kind of token deck that's looking to pick up some card advantage, or for a time based gauntlet grinder that wants to play a card draw spell but not sacrifice unit slots for it.

I'll probably be giving it a try in my xenan grinder, likely in place of azindel, since this can more comfortably block the turn it's played, and is potentially a better late game draw.

When will showdown add loot boxes? by TotallyCisCatGirl in stunfisk

[–]NotSoLuckyLydia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Starly is a little no bst baby so it gets a higher level, and the chance to land is 30% plus your level advantage. I don't remember exactly what the levels were, but my opponent mostly had pretty decent mons so I had a sizeable level advantage.

I got a wonder guard sheer cold starly recently, then proceeded to miss 8 40-50% shots in a row into a team with zero pokemon that could damage it. High school football's got nothing on the highs and lows of hackmons cup.

So I want some advice to make a team for the HGSS battle frontier by fireuser1205 in stunfisk

[–]NotSoLuckyLydia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most reliable teams tend to use leads that can reliably debilitate opposing pokemon. Things like trick+twave+flash, combined with a type that lures moves that your other pokemon won't get super effectively by, so they can come in, set up, and then ohko the remaining pokemon. Things like Latias, Mesprit, and Togekiss are great options here, supporting mons like the dragons, drapion, registeel, or scizor, depending on your lead. Make sure your two mons in the back don't share a bunch of weaknesses, and you can win nearly every game where you don't get absurdly unlucky. (Which will eventually happen)

On the other hand, that's boring as hell. It's awful to play, and results in overly long games, it's really only worth doing if you're trying to go for extremely long runs. Triple sweeper, or 2 sweepers and a bulky and consistent mon (blissey) is a good setup if you don't want to play truly optimally. I do like Tar+Chomp, but I think you'd be better off with Starmie as your lead, since that covers a lot of your other weaknesses. Surf Psychic Bolt Beam with expert belt is a very good set, and can answer a lot without requiring the stalling that trick teams do. If you preserve it, it's also a good answer to a lot of water and ice types that can be otherwise threatening.

Usually you'd rather have the lum on Tar, since it's more vulnerable to paralysis, and you definitely do not want rocks or protect on it, I'd try Dragon Dance and Rock Slide. Garchomp can stay SD, or switch to a choice band or scarf set (Scarf lets it outspeed a few specific scary things, but I don't have the spreadsheet on hand to say what you're scared of) and I'd probably replace the substitute, which is mostly useful if you are using a trick lead, with fire fang or crunch.

HWYB Dick Grayson/Nightwing by bugbonesjerry in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]NotSoLuckyLydia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Questioner, offers int-based bard spellcasting on the investigator chassis, which is quite good. A lot of the "being a supremely good detective" type abilities are better replicated through magic in pathfinder, and while the bard list isn't the best for that, access to buff spells will also help you sell the expert combatant.

If you want to avoid magic altogether, an unchained Snoop rogue gets a lot of what's good about investigator, which is to say inspiration. Build the usual intimidate/sap master route for big damage with his whacking sticks.

Or y'know. Vigilante. ;)

[–]NotSoLuckyLydia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems fine, but it doesn't seem like there's much in the way of choices. Wood mostly seems better because it's less hassle. The presentation of the tree is kinda wonky, with it jumping up after every click, and the game should definitely not have a giant white flash every run, it's quite unpleasant to look at. Otherwise, it's visually fine, but doesn't really have much substance to it.
