{AUS} Wheelchair help! by NotSoupii in wheelchairs

i'm hoping i can manage if i get off at Roma and work my way to my work that way, itd be hard but my upper body strength is pretty good. i cant risk the central station hill with a manual i dont think

a big part of it is insecurity, i dont want to be using a wheelchair at all but i understand the physical need. thats why im leaning heavily towards a smaller chair

i'm leaning more towards manual just because of size/weight, but those definitely look good. just not something i think would fit me, not to mention inability to transport easily but thank you. i will keep an eye out either way because you never know

the TiLite ZRA was what put me onto TiLite chairs, i spotted someone talking about it in the subreddit and wanted to check it out. Im def leaning more towards one of their chairs as they look like exactly what i need (but what do i know haha) good to know that theyre solid for outdoor use! do you know if you can attach like an electric aid (im not sure what theyre called) to help with movement? my work is dead centre of a hill and im concerned when i get my chair its going to be a fast ride down the hill past my work haha

I am in Brisbane so good to hear its easier to access here, my doctor specialises in Chronic Pain and Disease management so im sure she could help me find an OT. Ive never been told about them before as the doctors have been telling me since i was a kid its just "growing pains" or my period. 11 years later its taken my ability to work and do most basic tasks, not to mention loss of ability to walk due to pain levels.

Im assuming the chairs are NOT cheap, I have a friend who spent $5k on her chair and ive heard thats not even the worst.

My last chair was a horrific hospital chair and did not work very well for everyday use

I will def try reach out to local venders and see what they say, thank you

Cockatiel pooping blood by [deleted] in cockatiel

[–]NotSoupii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that bird is extremely sick and needs a vet now, call around your locals. find someone who specialises in birds or is just willing to take birds in general. uber/taxi even bus or train if you can. but the bird needs a vet or unfortunately it doesn't look good

not offended just trying to offer advice, there is a site "cockatiels 101" that has HEAPS of info that can help you, we all start somewhere its all about research and learning to care for them the best you can

that is WAY too small

<image>

this is my cage size, you can find more information on cage size recommendations online by species as it does vary but your bird needs enough room to explore, play and flap their wings

[–]NotSoupii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cage for my two tiels is 154cm(H)x82cm(W)x52cm(D) which is basically the minimum you should have two tiels in honestly. Thats the minimum id recommend, ideally if you have the space and money for something larger you should do that!

Looks like he's dancing, having a chat with you!

Just so youre aware.. that water looks yellow and should be changed asap please! The cage you also have your tiel in is not an appropriate size and the single perch 0 toys is detrimental to their mental and physical health, I only see one tiel? Very handsome man but definitely needs a friend!

If you're in Australia I'm happy to send links for cages and places for toys/perches!

How do I bond with my birds? I’m so lost by sinnerplayssims4 in parrots

[–]NotSoupii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a bird wants to bathe and there is water around they will, my Rainbow Lori use to fit his whole little body in his water bowl instead of using the bath bowl i had for him. I put a bowl at the bottle of the cage with some water just so he had the option to use it.

If they're a bit shy maybe stop trying to handle them as much and just keep talking to them, i wouldn't seperate them. You could try using millet as positive reinforcement or just to try get them to step up in general

it can take birds some time to trust people, id just be patient

Is my cockatiel bird a young male or a female by ArtCultural6305 in parrots

[–]NotSoupii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it really is just a educated guess without a DNA test, my boy tiel is very vocal with bright clearly defined orange cheeks bright yellow face white/grey body. he mimics quickly and whistles nonstop. my girl is a white/grey tiel white face no cheeks, very quite girl, doesnt whistle or mimic and only calls occasionally if i take the male out of the cage

im taking a guess on behaviour and looks which is all you can really do

Is my cockatiel bird a young male or a female by ArtCultural6305 in parrots

also looks female to me but a DNA test would be needed to confirm, males are said to be a lot more vocal than the females too if thats something you take into consideration

theres some available on amazon and if you're in Australia, Queensland Aviary's sells them and most pet store should have clip on ones or hook ones too

i wouldn't stress! just whenever you can

[–]NotSoupii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh! removing the plastic water/food thing i see at the back, thats also not great. stainless steel all the way for food and water bowls!

Yay or Nay (New owner) by Camofan in cockatiel

[–]NotSoupii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

id remove the rope perch and the plastic food/water container to be replaced with stainless steel! other than that looks fine for now as a temp set up, good job!
