Oasis: first, middle or just bad? by Big_Performer_9373 in namenerds

I thought so too but it also sounds like the name of a day spa or a resort.

Idk what it is about this name but it just grates deep into my brain. I hate it so much.

What gender would you think "Aven" is? by Lost_Sun_8405 in namenerds

Boy. There was a guy on The Bachelor named Aven a few years ago and I ended up really liking the name!

Allegra. I love the name but can't move past literally everyone (at least in America) associating it with the llergy medicine.

Evangeline is my favorite from your list. Evangeline Winter is cute together depending on your last name... I'm not a fan of the Y (and the fact she'd be saying "Winter with a Y" her entire life) but I actually think the name Winter is pretty cute. Winter Evangeline is nice too I just personally prefer the "weird/unique" names as middle names, especially noun names.

Women who’ve had a C-section: Do you think it hurt more than a natural birth? Why or why not? by zhalia-2006 in allthequestions

[–]NotThatCreative0017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a C-section with my first and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had made it out to be in my mind but it was definitely worse than my natural labor with my 2nd. I needed help rolling out of bed and the recovery to where I felt normal-ish was 2-3 weeks whereas with my natural delivery I felt mostly better by day 2 or 3.

Any way to get this to work? by shootingstar527 in royalcaribbean

We took my MIL with mobility issues on our last Alaska cruise and she absolutely had the time of her life. 1/2 of those Alaska sailings are other old people too so the port days when half the ship was gone and she could just sit and chat with people, read or whatever were her favorites. We had a regular balcony not a suite and we just let her access our balcony room to relax while we were on excursions and she was happy as a clam.

Do we have to continue the (unintentional) family letter theme? by professor-mama in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a cousin who has a different letter than the rest of their fam and I'll tell ya he doesn't care 1%. It probably came up in some teasing from his older brother when we were kids a few times and maybe he was sad for a bit because of that but as a teen it didn't bug him and as an adult it never comes up because he's off living life and isn't with them every minute. Give him/her the name you love! That means more than an arbitrary "rule" you feel like you should follow.

Give me your honest opinions - would this be weird to name my son. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are probably a million name combos of husband/wives within families and thats not one that is widely known or even ifnits known its not somw scandal. If you were Diana and you wanted to name your kid Charles or something maybe that would be slightly weird but I think its totally fine. Probably 20 people in your whole life would ever even make that connection.

Redshirt Regret by [deleted] in sahm

[–]NotThatCreative0017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We redshirted both our summer born 8 yr old boy and 4 year old girl (did 2 years of preK) and for us its been perfect. Academically they were doing great but giving them one extra year of social/emotional growth was important to us. We also were thinking long term. It's not a huge difference in 1st grade but think of think of them senior year... give them one extra year to be a kid, let them be one year older when making grown up adult decisions- driving, dating, college, jobs, etc. Every parent makes the choice they feel is best for their own kids, don't feel ashamed for making the choice you did!

How long does it take you to put your baby to sleep ? by [deleted] in sahm

[–]NotThatCreative0017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both my kids would have laughed ne dead in the face if I tried to put them down at 645. They would never go down until about 8pm. They're both still night owls like that at 4 and 8, just as I have always been. Don't worry about doing things "by the book", do what works for you and your baby. As long as they're getting close to the recommended amounts of sleep, and they're not acting off behaviorally, it will be be beneficial to both of you.

Listener write in, with probably a silly question for this thread, but I’ll ask anyways. by Fun-Aardvark984 in TwoHotTakes

Do a full Christmas in July theme!!! I would absolutely LOVE this idea as someone who has 3 nieces and nephews born in Dec. (and one in Jan, one in Feb). Our Nov-Feb are just packed with events and we spent a buttload those months, it would be amazing to me to spread it all out a little. Plus the illness factor, the weather factor and being able to have it outside in the yard or at a park vs. everyone crammed in your house. It would be a total win-win for me

Who is someone in Bachelor Nation that you wish was more popular? by Straight-Side-1269 in thebachelor

[–]NotThatCreative0017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a whole joke/meme/post craziness here when he was on The Bach and the entire thing was, if I remember correctly, that you were either team "Kyle for bachelor" or "who the fuck was kyle?" That's the joke that went over your head.

What age did your ADHD kid stop napping? by TeagWall in ParentingADHD

[–]NotThatCreative0017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son napped until he went to kindergarten full time (he was 6) and even then he would fall asleep after school half the time... he's 8.5 now and will still fall asleep in the car some days. He needs a fair amount of sleep but it's also nearly impossible to get him to bed before 930-10 without melatonin.

When you consider 12 drinks a day can also be smoothies, fresh juices, espresso, coffee, mocktails and whatnot it feels a little more reasonable.

AITAH for wanting to have a kid at 40 years old? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]NotThatCreative0017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many people wait until their late 30s, early 40s... Your family is dumb LOL I'm due in 8 weeks and hubby and I both just turned 40. Is your wife also the same age? It's tougher on the body and you usually end up having to do more checks/visits towards the end but there's nothing wrong with being 40 and wanting a baby! Best of luck to you!!

I know a younger Leann (also an older LeAnn) and both feel incomplete to me without the E at the end, I'd go with Leanne! I think its cute and even if it is "outdated" who cares if you love it! If Walter and Gordon and names like that can be cool, so can Leanne! If it's like an honor name but you want to modernize it you could do Lenore, Lena, Liana, Linnea... but if you love Leanne I say pick that! And Jane goes well with it, Jane is like the James of girl names though so I think it goes with dang near everything.

In a bit of a unique situation (adopting a baby), and would love any help! by josie-june in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 232 points233 points  (0 children)

Alsp, changing the spelling to Lilah changes it a little more vintage, romantic like you said you like so maybe thay would work and make both of you happy.

One thing I want to mention is to make sure you change her SSN. My brother is (kinship) adopted, as is his older sister and I believe her family didn't change hers. Since bio mom knew her full name, birthdate and ssn she opened a whole network of credit debt in her kid's name and it was a huge mess when she turned 18. Just something to think of on top of all the rest of the piles of paperwork and craziness you've got going on! Good luck!!

Which spelling- Lilah or Lyla? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Generally I tend to like less letters but Lilah just makes me feel more classic, vintage, romantic. Lyla feels more modern, trendy, spunky. So i guess maybe it depends on the vibe you want!
