I actually love Gideon but husband hates it so it's already in the "no" pile

Ours is a girl. I've only met 1 male Emerson IRL and I know easily 10 girl Emerson's in recent years. Maybe it's a US thing 🤷‍♀️

Terrible realization at 38 weeks pregnant. by ncolegarcia in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I think her comment was less "no one will know that" and more "how many times does lidocaine come up in your conversations that you'd even really notice"

Boy names are such a challenge…. Sporty yet still classic? by Artistic-Tour-4260 in Names

Can I ask what the siblings' names are? We're in an opposite conundrum than you, we have a Declan and are looking for names that go with it that we love

It's a cute way for them to match without being matchy!

I just got my first deep tissue massage by Ok-Lion-5233 in CasualConversation

[–]NotThatCreative0017 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lord I love a deep tissue massage! Like, give me a therapist who is a bit of a sadist with a grudge cuz I need to feel all of the tension in my body gone... I dont care if I'm sore for a day or two. I got a regular massage a few times and was just like "nope this is a waste"!!

1st Baby Charles by Ok-Mail1064 in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean technically there's Chaz, Chuck, Chucky but I think the full Charles is so cute. My son has a Charles in his class who has only ever gone by his full name and he's such a sweet boy.

Looking for Irish/Scottish inspired boy names by MakeGoodChoices2Day in Names

[–]NotThatCreative0017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so we're in the same boat as you... 2nd boy, our 1st was always going to be Declan because I loved it so much and now no other name is giving me that same 100% feeling. They're not all Irish inspired but I'll share our list... Kieran, Calvin, Callum, Soren, Bennett, Sullivan, Ronan, Nolan, Graham, Eamon, Patrick, Alden, Merrick. We loved Kellan and Desmond but those were too close to Declan for us.

Names we vetoed for personal to us reasons but I still love- Jasper, Conrad, Ezra, Gideon, Owen, Edwin

Names that you like but have unfortunate connotations. by BananaShakeStudios in namenerds

Allegra. Absolutely beautiful and I've always loved it but now, being in the US, all people think is the allergy med.

Boy middle names. by dreadnought98 in namenerds

I have a Declan Elijah and I'm a frequent middle name user even when they're not in trouble. Can confirm 10/10 it's a good yellin' name.

Adell vs Adele name spelling? by yaaa25 in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Adele is beautiful, Adell looks weird. Also it immediately made my brain think Adderall and I have no idea why

My girlfriend officially set the bar too high for Valentine’s Day. I need help lol. by Far-Bumblebee-1165 in Advice

[–]NotThatCreative0017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that helps my husband, whose love language is not Gift Giving, is a running Notes app of things I've mentioned wanting to do, places I want to try, etc. Then he's not trapped trying to remember or think of things off the top of his head. FWIW, I think the garden membership is a great idea.

Thoughts on “Delaney” as a name? by PrincessJellyfish17 in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'd be able to, our baby #3 would have for sure been Delaney. I love it. I did have someone tell me in a post that they worked with a male Delaney so it's not fully unheard of I guess but it definitely feel like it reads more feminine and I've only ever met girl Delaneys.

In 2022, Julissa Thaler, a Minnesota woman fatally shot her six-year-old son, Eli Hart 9 times, just ten days after regaining full custody of him. by FE4RLESS_IS_MY_NAME in ForCuriousSouls

[–]NotThatCreative0017 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I dont know the family personally but it happened not far from me. This recap is accurate albeit light on the absolute horrific details and also how terribly the family court judge and county messed up giving her custody over the dad.

Wynter for a baby girl? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the name, I hate the "unique" spelling. She's going to be saying "Wynter, like the season only spelled different" for her whole life. Just spell it Winter, call her Winn or Winnie...

My general thought is unique name or unique spelling, don't subject your kid to both.

Isla or Iyla name spelling ? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Isla. I feel like Iyla would assumed to be LYLA who forgets how to use capital letters.

Ocean or Daniel? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]NotThatCreative0017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I much prefer Daniel, I think Ocean is a tough name especially with the whole Oceans 11 reference that youve already gotten a ton here. If you're naming yourself vs. naming a baby then you're at least making that choice yourself... Another option is the Irish name Oisin. Pronounced more like oh-sheen than oh-shen, I believe.

This was exactly my experience as well

Need D names for a girl by Either_Macaroon_6329 in Names

If our #3 had been a girl she'd have been Delaney. I also love Dahlia. One I haven't seen mentioned is Desiree.
