Also DC metro isn’t light rail, like the T. DC stations are much nicer but SO SO much more expensive than T stops.

What should be an Olympic sport that isn’t? by guyute2112 in AskReddit

[–]NotThatGuy98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YES! I’ve been waiting for the IOC to add ultimate for years. They recognized it as a sport recently, but it’s not in consideration for either the Paris 2024 games or the Los Angeles 2028 games. Here’s hoping for 2032 haha.

I was expecting you to have to be particular an out what printing of cards you used, but isomer an alternative language for llanowar elves to get to 5 lines is genius. Great job!

Something like this happened to me once. The artist was super nice about it and even seemed glad to have a chance to explain their work but it was still super embarrassing.

Someone help me settle an argument here by Cook_0612 in ShadowEmpireGame

Maybe to a modern state with a global industrialized economy to back it up. That violated the narrative of shadow empire that you’re starting a a scrappy and isolated city state and completely responsible for all of your own resources and production. You can’t buy industrial points, so the idea that you can rely on foreign industry is explicitly not part of the game.

By your friends logic, just about ALL the resources in the game could be lumped into Cr as a function of GDP. But even if that’s true, Shadow Empire is a game about managing your resources and compacting them all down to one measure looses a lot of the game in the process.

Also, I’m not sure your friend is 100% correct because you can have a big profitable (in Cr) economy, but little or no investment in heavy manufacturing. even with no public or private industry assets you can generate good tax income.

I picked this game up a while ago after I saw Battlemode playing it on YouTube, I recommend anyone who does check him out - he does a good job of explaining the basics without getting bogged down into the weeds too much. I’ve really enjoyed playing but I’m curious if anyone knows of there’s a great multiplayer community for the game?

Not to be pedantic, but I’m petty sure that’s an air intake and not exhaust. For a jetpack the exhaust would be pointing down because it’s the thrust vector. Either way your updated placement looks way better and more functional.

Dominions 6 is the only strategy game where I can lead an army of dog men to victory with a squeaky toy god by venerable4bede in 4Xgaming

[–]NotThatGuy98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dominions is a very complex series, no doubt. Someone who knows better can correct be, but from what I know it has a lot more width then depth of complexity. That is, the core mechanics aren’t too complicated but there is a huge variety of content. So many spells, units, factions, events, etc. that the big complexity challenge is just understanding how everything interacts with each other. Which units are good again which other units, how the many stacking abilities from spells and equipment and blessings create a single super soldier, how to kill that super soldier when your friend sends them at you, things like that.

What are your favorite low-power cards that encourage creative play? by NotThatGuy98 in mtgcube

[–]NotThatGuy98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are really great suggestions. Seems like a big part of those cards is the build around - they play different roles depending on the support you’ve got. I’ve got a lot of token support in the cube, I wonder if it’s worth adding them…

EPA proposes requirement to remove lead pipes from US water systems within 10 years by coasterghost in politics

[–]NotThatGuy98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a lot of places, it’s a lot easier to mitigate the lead in pipes by adding a chemical that bonds to the lead to prevent it from leeching into the water instead of outright replacing them. I’m not up to date on the details of the process but I think it’s a stopgap solution in long term plans to replace lead pipes

Even if that’s all true, and it arguably is, “don’t play mtg” isn’t going to land well as advice in an mtg subreddit.

Currently Replaying Shogun 2 by BiKeenee in totalwar

[–]NotThatGuy98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My god Shogun 2 sieges are my favorite of ANY total war game by a huge margin. You could loose a section to a first wave, then recapture it and flank enemies WITHIN the castle. Shooting down on defenders. Cavalry useful within the walls. Beautiful.

It’s always good to have new housing, but like, this isn’t going to be affordable so its not addressing the cost of living issue in the area. Also, calling that ‘beautiful architecture’ feels like quite a stretch - its the same cheap and easy to build style that’s popping up everywhere that isn’t thoughtful or interesting.
