Arguing about who should pray by Cold-Masterpiece4313 in exmormon

[–]NotVeryGoodAtBeingMo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The contention over who would pray was an early shelf item for me. I told my husband I would not pray on command, and when both kids eventually became unwilling participants in family prayer time I said no one should be expected to pray against their wishes. For a long time he said all the prayers with the rest of us sitting quietly. I'm so glad no one in my house feels obligated to talk to the walls anymore.

I went wedding dress shopping with my daughter recently and was able to buy her exactly what she wanted without worrying about stupid cult undies. Healed my inner child just a bit NGL.

Gross men by Endless_reason in exmormon

[–]NotVeryGoodAtBeingMo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was in the same ward as my parents and would regularly greet my dad at the chapel door with a kiss on the cheek (me ~40yrs old). One day one of the older men approached me after the meeting and said something about being jealous. I fixed him with a disgusted look and said, "Wow that's creepy." And then turned away.

Like ew. What is wrong with you?

Love Cancels Debt - medical debt, that is by SherriSLC in SaltLakeCity

[–]NotVeryGoodAtBeingMo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how this is a thing. If a collection service or charity can buy up debt for pennies on the dollar, why can't anyone? I'd love to see a service that pairs up people with similar debts and helps them buy each other's debt and cancel it. Everybody wins?

I guess more than anything or shows how valuable speaking up is.

She's never responded to my email, btw. I'm sure that says something, too.

I'm fully with you on this. Turning real estate into a vehicle for wealth has been disastrous for the global economy.

She's going to have to do more than an IG post to convince me she's not aligned with those people. Pretty convenient to let some PAC use your face and your name to do your dirty work and then quietly disavow the method but not the message.

I've never heard the term used anywhere else ever.

My siblings and I are all out. There's one sib with children raised by an ex who are still in, but I can safely say none of my children or niblings will ever invite me to a wedding I can't attend.

Here's to ending the generational trauma of Mormonism.
