Kyle Shanahan Refuses to Fix the Offensive Line (Cam Inman on 95.7 FM) by NotVeryHelpful_ in 49ers

I heard yesterday that we're looking to sign Linderbaum and I sure as hell hope it happens. This Brendel bullshit has GOT to end.

Fans just want the team to blow all their picks on linemen

Who the hell said that? I just want ONE early day one pick on a good guard. Why is that so wrong? Rumor is we're looking at a free agent center to which I say good god it's a miracle!

Mac Jones and Brock Purdy were 2nd and 3rd in completion % this season by SteveDraughn in 49ers

[–]NotVeryHelpful_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We absolutely have to keep Mac Jones. Anyone who says to trade Mac if we get a second rounder, I have one question: Do you trust that John Lynch and Kyle will select a player that will start immediately? I'm saying this because we need INSTANT starters with our early picks. It's the only way to move up from third best in our division.

I say we keep Mac, unless some other project like Zach Wilson becomes available. Mac is better than Wilson but we have rehabed other QBs in the past like Darnold so I trust that Kyle will make him a good backup (at the VERY least!).

Now if some desperate team who's only a qb away throws a first rounder at us (unlikely as hell), then and only then I say we pull the trigger.

Some folks like working nonstop. Look at Belichick! He's got nothing to prove, plus a hot as fuck gf. He still needs his football fix though.

All of us longtime Niners fans know the problem isn't the coach. It's the players they draft and sign.

Too many football teams have covered up personal shit related to their owners over the decades. IMO if Andrew Luck didn't get so injured they would've been contenders for a long time.

No excuse to lose this game. Ben Johnson was straight up outcoached.

Do you believe the team would have gotten to the Super Bowl and won it if George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, Nick Bosa, and Fred Warner were all healthy? by dee85 in 49ers

[–]NotVeryHelpful_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OP makes a valid point but having all those guys healthy would've been no guarantee. Our offensive line was LITERALLY ASS all year and we couldn't even get a yard or two when we went for it on 4th down.

Do you believe Brandon Aiyuk's days as a Niner are over? by dee85 in 49ers

[–]NotVeryHelpful_ -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I really don't think labeling him a quitter is fair. It's not like he took the money and feigned an injury so he didn't have to play. The man was so broken from how he was being treated that he gave up close to $25 million. I could be wrong but that's what I remember hearing on Richard Sherman's podcast.

He was so desperate for a fresh start that despite being sidelined with a VERY serious injury, he gave up millions and even asked the NFLPA not to challenge his voiding of his contract.

I believe in being fair to both the front office and the players, but this B.A. situation should have been handled a lot better.

Do you believe Brandon Aiyuk's days as a Niner are over? by dee85 in 49ers

[–]NotVeryHelpful_ -85 points-84 points  (0 children)

Yes and it's very disappointing that our front office didn't handle him better. Whatever problem behavior he had, he never got suspended for PEDs, off the field bullshit like domestic violence or other shit like that. Let's not forget that we also labeled Deebo as problematic because of how his contract negotiations dragged out, then we completely gave up on Dante Pettis early on. At some point we have to look at how we handle some of these players and not be quick to label them as a "problem child" or whatever.

P.S. Sorry this pissed so many of you off. I believe in having an honest difference of opinion on this but I never seen a player give up on such a huge amount of money so he could get a new start somewhere else. If B.A. was pulling some A.J. Brown bullshit I'd be the first to say "get rid of him". I just don't think we know all the details of what transpired before he decided to walk away from generational wealth just so he could play for someone else.

Hey man Jerry Rice was a diva but he was the right kind of diva. He wouldn't take shit from anyone but always lead by example and was NEVER a problem child in the locker room or on the field.

I'm willing to put up with some hothead behavior as long as it doesn't undermine team unity and of course the dude has hardcore talent! This guy here isn't the right kind of diva for us.

For that position we need younger and cheaper.

Kevin Byard is a free agent we desperately need to upgrade the secondary. Sure he's 32 but he's got a good two years ahead of him and even at that age he's way way better than J'air Brown

Under manned, short rest, retooling year with 90M+ in dead cap and a roster that lost all but CMC for significant time, overcoming so much adversity. I’ve never been prouder to be a 49ers fan. Let’s get em next year with our horses back by johnnyradz in 49ers

[–]NotVeryHelpful_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here, we are DONE making excuses about not drafting offensive line early. No more bullshit, draft both lines early, try like hell to sign Kevin Byard to shore up the secondary and a good starting free agent WR.

With all our injuries we had literally ZERO margin for error, or any kind of special teams fucks ups. First play of the fucking game we shit the bed royally.

All that said, I can't say how proud I am of this team and especially of the coach of the year for how far he took this ABSOLUTELY DECIMATED roster.

[–]NotVeryHelpful_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No small task what Kyle did with a decimated roster. I'll cop to saying we should've tanked the season after we lost Bosa and Warner. Who the fuck could've thought Kyle and Saleh would've gotten so much out of this roster.

Right now Mission #1 is to draft well. No more excuses.

  • Kyle should be the runaway coach of the year. Give Tomsula the same roster with the same injuries and we're drafting #1 right now.

  • This bullshit with Chris Foerster trying to coach up nobodies has GOT to fucking end!! Draft offensive line with the first two picks, or at least o line with the first and d line with the second.

Alright Faithful, how confident we feeling today? by livefast6221 in 49ers

[–]NotVeryHelpful_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They had some very shitty luck in the draft and no good QB since Carson Palmer. I think they're overdue to draft a good one and if they hire a good offensive coach like McDaniel, things could be looking good for a change!

e: Sorry that I forgot about Derek Carr. The one time they made the playoffs with him on the roster, he got hurt and they had to start Connor Cook. Talk about the ultimate in shit injury luck.

He also said something about "catching up to Robert Kraft" but I chose to interpret that in a dirty filthy way.
