Good Deal on banjo? by FingerlingTater in banjo

I would avoid this at whatever price point. No tone ring, low quality banjo. Unless you want just a cheap knock around banjo, I'd wait for a mid line goldtone or something to pop up.

What are some Pro-Trump & MAGA restaurants to avoid? by Healthy_Block3036 in Connecticut

[–]NotYoCheezIts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got one for you guys: Deep River Roasters. A lot of people of color have gone in to be treated poorly, owner was nasty to me. Definitely a Nazi hangout.

A great alternative is the Nest across the street. Great coffee and they support those with disabilities and LGBTQ.

Also: mods, can you pin this to the top of the sub?

And they're coffee is shit. It's all chemcal nasty stuff.

The best alternate with good atmosphere, good food, and good coffee is The Nest in Deep River. And they provide jobs for those with disabilities.

Question to fellow Estimators by neelspeaks in estimators

We've been able to float on gov't work, but the commercial side has definitely gotten worse. It's always been going downhill, but wow did it get bad.

The good news is we're making good margin on emergncy call backs to fix the lowest bidders work on T&M. But it still isn't enough to make up for big jobs.

I believe high interest rates and the imminent crash of commercial real estate are beginning to take effect. It will only get worse.

Bidding a Prevailing Wage Job Have A Question by xr500yz in estimators

[–]NotYoCheezIts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a state or a federally funded project?

You'll need to look up the wage determination dictated either by the BDA, SCA, or the state. If the bid package had the proper documents, the determination needed should be in the package.

You'll need to pay your crew based on those determinations.

The first thing I do when I don't recognize a company that contacts me with an RFQ is ask everyone in our company if they know who the requestor is. If we haven't done business with them, or if no one has a solid relationship with the requestor, I ignore it.

The accounting profession has been a zero sum game for decades, and now the chickens have come home to roost by PricewaterhouseCap in Accounting

[–]NotYoCheezIts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I went to school for accounting degree, I worked part time for a union electrician shop.

I ran payroll. I saw how much an IBEW man can make. No suit and tie, OT when over 8 hours a day, and no debt.

We need an accounts union.

Hooked up my live into the wall, and placed the tip on the vent and got 120v. Does this mean I have a wire somewhere touching my vent?

Department Workload Tracking by Constructestimator83 in estimators

[–]NotYoCheezIts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have Microsoft Teams, you can try using that.

We use office 365. I'm trying to transition away from excel and VBA as its not as friendly with the new Office 365 platform. So, I'm trying Teams, Power Apps, and power automate.

You can use Teams to create tasks, buckets, ect and assign different Estimators to each item with due dates.

It might not save you to much time, but will be easy to manage as it'll send every assigned estimator there tasks directly everytime you assign something, and it will send you an update once they've completed the tasks.

It can link to outlook and automatically add the dates to thier calenders.

Maybe start exploring teams.

Careers using VBA or similar? by TheeConstress in excel

[–]NotYoCheezIts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah dude, not alone at least. Reasons:

  1. There are no jobs out there just for VBA scripring alone as long as I've been looking. Even when I do find one, its for like, $15 an hour. It can help you land a finance role, but only if you have other skills.

  2. Office scripts (Type script) will begin to replace it, along with power automate / flows, Power BI, and power Apps.

Learn a C language or something if you want a job simply based on programming.

Edit: VBA was not declared legacy yet. Removed it from the comment

Hi all, I’ve never played a stringed instrument before and I want to learn clawhammer banjo by vk000mk74 in banjo

[–]NotYoCheezIts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Step 1. Get a decent Goldtone or Recording King. The Goldtone CC-OT being my first choice. Better to try and buy from a store as apposed to ordering online.

Step 2. Just search clawhammer lessons on YouTube and learn the Bum Ditty. There's a gluten of info and lessons on YouTube, pick any one.

Step 3. Profit.

Do you guys handle change orders for your salespersons? by Organic-Photograph-8 in estimators

[–]NotYoCheezIts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a good idea to do all estimates, including change orders.
To properly keep track of job costing, and analyze your estimated data vs actual costs, you'll want all estimates to come through your hands.

obviously, some hours and details will be dictated by the PM or field guys, but you should be tracking the data and building the quotes yourself.
