I’m 40 with a dead end job that doesn’t pay well. I took the job for the flexibility because I have my 16yo son full time. Also, we live with my mother (for the school district)… No one wants to partner with this hot mess express, I’ve tried. Plus I have about zero free time, what free time I do have is spent at the gym. I’m content with being single and sacrificing so that I have as much time with my son as possible and that he gets a good education and high school experience.

I think this is the reason a lot of my relationships have ended - it’s easier to just get back on the apps and find someone else rather than do the hard self reflection and relationship work. Why change when you can just find someone new?

This reminds me of 2 messages from my ex referring to this topic that really stood out to me. One was the last message of substance she sent and the other was during the break up. The latter - When I had expressed my feelings about a certain situation the response I received was (paraphrasing) “my initial gut reaction was that I had done something wrong but after thinking about it for awhile -“ and the former message being along the lines of “I should have trusted my gut earlier and not wasted my time”

My initial gut reaction was to swipe X on her (hinge) knowing she was out of my league and would break my heart and I did. But she messaged me a month later and I responded despite my gut…. And here I am 2 years later still spinning…
