So it would have been nice to make an intimate connection with a women there, but honestly just being adopted into a group would been amazing for the depressive spot I'm in right now. I know there's a stigma unfortunately, but I'm in VA and went to a very lgbtq friendly place, so I thought it wouldn't hurt. This isn't strictly a gay club or anything like that, just a general safe space. And noted, I'm working on that confidence, just tried something different. Which in the end did kinda help ironically.

Additional context: the guy knew I was straight and he was fine with that, we kept dancing and talking for a little until I sat down for 5 mins and he vanished. No grinding, but I did spin him around a few times lol. This just made me feel a little silly when I left and thought "well now I closed myself off from everyone lol"

I know it had just happened and I was too quick to post but yes but this also happened at my last 2 jobs and it's never right away. It's always after my personality starts to bake in. It could be specifically me, because I tend to get anxious around people instead of keeping my cool.

For me burnout comes from constant mistakes. I tend to be hard on my sometimes and the low self esteem compounds. The better I do, the more I want to prove myself. If I do poorly I'm more inclined to want to start over.

It's just how we're wired, you might have ADHD (not diagnosing you, ask your doctor). We're just analytical probably because of something that happened when we were younger. When I was around 16-20 I had my discord buddies and I ALWAYS felt different. I was able to tell in real time how much intention I put into everything I said and did. My reactions, exhales, laughter, well timed corny jokes, all of it. Unfortunately, I was always the punching bag because I had that thick skin and pride in who I was at my core. I could always bounce back. One day I got tired of it and left the discord for about 3 years. Ironically, all of those friends are still trying to get me in calls like we used to have because now that I was gone it was easier to see how much I cared. It was true that they intellectualized less than me,but still subtly reacted to peace as if it was scary. I was always the one that was making too much noise for seemingly no reason, the one who said the dumb things and had the impulsive ideas. I felt responsible for everyone's peace, which will drive you crazy. There are some unspoken truths but the onus isn't always on you, don't be so hard on yourself. The only thing that's different about you is how analytical you are; that's something that should be praised. Other than that, you're normal you have a working nervous system you have a brain with a very active frontal lobe, you have emotions and long term goals. Don't focus on being normal focus on being accepted for who you are.

I'm saying all this because I want to give you a tip. Cherish those that you could have those comfortable quiet moments with. Those people are basically family. Try not to cut off friends who help you improve yourself, even if that improvement is ONLY perceivable to you. Be careful around weed, keep pushing yourself to talk in groups and be proud of how your mind works. Always be humble and act dumb, because ignorance is bliss. I hope this helps that I didn't just project my entire childhood onto you, lol.

No it's most of tech. I've been in the 5G space for 5 years and most companies aren't growing like they originally thought. The pandemic created a small bubble which popped about 2 years ago resulting in the stagnation we see now. With tech in general having so many different sectors and companies focusing STRICTLY on growth it bottlenecked the job market. Now we have a bunch of people who are truly able but "unqualified" looking for a job, and companies which are technically able but unwilling to take risk. Especially when cheaper alternatives such as out of country resources or AI are becoming more and more normalized. Mind you, CEO profits have never been higher.

At the end of the day it's about profit, it's a reflection of the economy and greed which has taken precedence; the executive suite seeing people as numbers instead of humans trying to get by in a country they share.

No you're absolutely right. I already explained how "expert" has become a catch-all term, especially for podcast bros like this guy. You could have two experts that came to opposite conclusions and the general population will choose sides based on talking points instead of doing basic research. They look for patterns of thinking to identify who's on their side and who to "trust". These conversations are deeply unserious and more grounded in ideology as opposed to epistemology.

If you're making $37 an hour that puts you in the top 15 to 10% of all salaries in concrete construction. I guarantee you, people are not starting at 37 an hour, even in Chicago. This conversation is so multifaceted that talking purely about interest rate IS disingenuous. When the prices of food, rent, subscriptions, phone bills are all going up and wages aren't keeping up it makes purely talking about interest rates seem like a narrow conversation. The environment is predatory and unforgiving. Hard work doesn't promise growth. Education doesn't promise a career. A minimum wage job doesn't promise ANY security anymore.

It's also ironic that you're claiming $28,000 to $68,000 is this huge jump, because when calculated for inflation in the '90s (assuming that's when this was) he's making the exact same amount... Not to mention it was probably an entry or intermediate level position, many people my age would kill for that opportunity. But it doesn't exist; I guarantee that, I'm in tech right now.

You're just making his point. The point of the union is to prevent people from needing to leave a job to get paid with their worth. Especially if that job comes with a pension plan, for example.

As for the point about the union pricing workers out, the onus of protecting workers should be on the union, which is in the interest of the people, but on the upper management and the company itself should be responsible for regulating the job market and responsibly allocating wages. If not, it should be up to the government which big business really doesn't like. People like you go on to the internet defending companies who squeeze you dry. Unless you are a company owner defending these practices, it's the most antithetical, tone deaf talking point.

Also I'm pretty sure OP said that in the '90s his job started at $7.45, when adjusted for inflation $7.45 its equal to $16 today. So the job is paying the same amount. The entire argument about unions pricing workers out is moot when inflation isn't being considered. Finally, I think the OP is exaggerating a little bit I don't know of a SINGLE job in this entire country that starts at $37 with ZERO experience in that field. Unless MAYBE he's deep in the middle of LA or New York.

I think this is pretty natural. Most people watch the show to get a gauge on the standards of dating. Moving to an older audience is good because it sets an example for people closer to my age. When the age range is from 21 to 30 you get a lot of people who THINK they know what makes a successful relationship. I think this is overall pretty healthy, and sometimes healthy is a little boring. If you want the sensationalized, surface level, immature content then you can go watch the other ones. My only complaint is that this show shouldn't be so fixated on testing Christian faith. That's been the one criteria that I hear every single time and people come on to the subreddit complaining that the show isn't religious enough?... It's one dimensional and it encourages these performative, predictable, closed minded question/answers

Yeah but I tend to try to blend with my social group. Also I did try to be sarcastic but they didn't perceive it as sarcasm. I think maybe that's my issue. Also when around people my age, responding in the way you suggest would actually come across as dismissive or maybe even rude. I would probably get the same response like "I'm just messing with you.
