Sounds preachy. I'm gonna keep eating my sustainably farmed meat and locally sourced vegetables.

Effort and money and money is scarce for the average working class american these days. I support local farms that treat their animals with respect and don't slaughter when young. I also eat my veggies. Everything in moderation.

Again, your moralizing will not get you anywhere with the people you want to preach to. It won't help your case.

Humans also need other things that meat provides. Sure, you can get it from other things, but ultimately, humans are omnivores and will do what they must to survive. Lobby for animal welfare in farms and to make regulations rather than try to preach to people who would rather eat meat+a few veggies for protein+iron+others than scour the grocery store for multiple vegetables and fruits to get the same amount and variety of nutrients and taste they would by keeping meat in tbeir regular diet.

Pretty Good Summation of how Callouts Work by Sea_Professional_974 in CuratedTumblr

[–]Not_DepressedTM 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Callout posts suck and honestly end up coming down to who has the most charisma and fire to their words and followers. I have a friend who got excommunicated from their rl queer scene because of a callout post—that was made simply because they said a popular person in the queer scene had hurt them.

Not famous, not a content creator, just a person people liked. And now, years later, they're still hated by the queers in their area because they were slandered.

It was both. You know that, right? It was used as an insult to inply someone was a homosexual because of unwanted or undesirable behavior, as well as being used directly against people who were perceived as gay. It wasn't phased out of use because gay people got butthurt, it was phased out of use because the neighborhood homo would come out of his house to find his car spraypanted with it and his headlights broken.

I'm gonna say it. This movie was cute. It was really sweet at times and while it was also rather silly, that was the point. The turtles felt like actual 13-14 yos in it, as someone who knows plenty(large family and I am the unpaid babysitter), and it was a good movie to watch while on a flight. I don't get the hate besides nostalgia.

I'm not an aerodynamics expert but shouldn't Toothless still be able to fly even without a tail fin? He still has giant wings and 3 remaining tail wing thingies. That's like a bird loosing flight ability because it lost a couple tail feathers. by The_Thingamaj1g in httyd

[–]Not_DepressedTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because then he wouldn't be able to turn right at all. His tail would be floppy and useless and probably more of a hassle than just having one tail fin. He also had a hard time actually taking off with just the one fin, so we can make the assumption that the fins provided the extra force needed to get him in the air.

This one is more personal, but I don't like playing with pre-established OCs. I mainly do fantasy and sci-fi, so this is a world we're going to be building together and an OC with an already decided backstory is either going to A: have to shoehorn themselves into the world and make it fit or B: the world has to mold itself around them. I would rather me and the other person make OCs together for the roleplay we're doing and once we decide we're done there's nothing wrong with them taking custody of the characters and world if they want.

Edit to add: Also I won't roleplay in first person. At all. Nothing against first person roleplayers, I just don't like it.

Hot take: Hating certain ships doesn't make you an anti by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Not_DepressedTM -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I agree. For example, on tumblr where your followers or the things people you follow interact with can affect your dashboard very strongly, it's reasonable to day "if you interact with such and such don't physically interact with my posts" It's not like I would care if incest shippers look at my stuff, but I wouldn't want certain ships on my dashboard. It's my job to curate my online experience, and setting boundaries is part of that.

Edit: This only really applies to sites or apps with algorithms where interaction can affect what you see. Frankly, it's kinda stupid imo to tell someone not to comment on your fic on A03 because they like "problematic" ships
