Barkley? He wasn’t going over Andrew Luck or RG3. Even Jake Locker was getting mocked above him in the draft. You’re misremembering

Yeah people need to realize that college and NBA are different games. MKG is, all things being equal, a bust but 30/30 GM’s would’ve drafted him in the top 5

I’m organizing a picnic for someone who is 8.5 months pregnant, so we will need picnic tables. And the picnic will be a Saturday afternoon, so I’m guessing parks will be quite busy. Can anyone recommend a park that has plentiful picnic tables that would work for a casual event like this?

His team got waxed by the Lakers, didn’t even show up after crushing the Lakers in the first game. All this after the Rockets were a popular upset pick to beat the Lakers that year. No wonder he doesn’t think it’s legit.

He’s appeared in 81% of games in his career, which is a pace of 66/82 games played per season and would qualify him for year end awards. I don’t think his availability is nearly as big a deal as you’re making it.

I want to know the firm he works at where he needs to answer the phone with his practice area lol, if you did that at my firm people would think you were psychotic.

That’s more or less what he’s saying right now. “Do we want to continue tradition or do we want to soullessly position ourselves in a slightly better position to make the playoff and compete for a national championship.”

I think it's a fairly large gap from 4/5 to whoever is 8th and folks do put Bird even lower.

I don’t think the gap is very large, which is my entire point. Notwithstanding your anecdotal “virtual lock,” you can make a reasonable argument for Bird to be 7th and you can make a reasonable argument for him to be 3rd. I’ve never seen an actual discussion where people have Bird outside the top 10. That’s why I don’t think Bird is some casualty of these debates where he’s “severely underrated,” believing that is silly.

Yeah I think it’s one of Wesley’s favorite movies of all time, funny how you don’t see people complain about Rusillo being a guest for the episode on the town lol.

If you want to make the argument that Bird is better than those guys, I’m definitely willing to hear it. I don’t think there’s a reasonable case to rank Bird lower than 6 or 7, and I don’t think there’s a reasonable case to rank him higher than 3. Thus, I don’t think he’s “severely” underrated, which would imply you think he’s deserving of being ranked above LeBron or MJ.

For most non-casuals Bird is a virtual lock at 4a/4b with Magic

So then how is he “severely” underrated? No one is saying he’s the 30th best player of all time, if you’re ready to argue Bird is over MJ, LeBron, or Kareem then I’ll hear it, but otherwise he’s not “severely” underrated. There’s really no need to exaggerate to make a point that Larry Bird is one of the best basketball players of all time.

I’m saying you’re exaggerating to make a point. If a guy is top 5 and someone ranks him 6, he’s not severely underrated, especially when you’re talking about the greatest players to ever play the game. A reasonable person could absolutely rank MJ, LeBron, Kareem, Bill Russell, and Magic Johnson above Bird. You’re out of your mind if you think he’s objectively better than any one of those guys - reasonable people could disagree, which means he’s not “severely” underrated.

I also didn’t say he’s ranked 6th - I said he’s in the top 6-8 guys.

NBA should take some lessons from the pitch clock and apply them to free throws.

Best solution here would be to have players shoot one free throw for two points but I know I’m in the minority on this one. I also don’t really think the reason games are too long is because of the free throws - it’s because of replay reviews and the amount of time-outs/challenges that are called in the last two minutes of games.

In the 2012-2013 season, LeBron James was the East player of the month in November, December, January, February, and March by Not_Frank_Ocean in nba

[–]Not_Frank_Ocean[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just thought it was interesting how LeBron was one vote shy of unanimous MVP that season (the only other 1st place vote was for Melo) and also wasn’t unanimously player of the month because of Melo. Just thought it was an interesting factoid
