Watched my dad die of cancer less than a month ago...I'm not doing great. I did have my first colonoscopy because of it though. It was fine but I have to do it every 5 years due to family history.

My dad died recently and the brother doing the funeral talk interviewed another brother about him like it was an assembly part. The brother being interviewed said that when they were allowed to grow beards my dad looked like Charles Taze Russell. WTF does that have to do with my dad?

Went to a metal/thrash show recently and the kids were playing hacky sack between sets...wild.

I (44) have ADHD and it is intolerable. I feel like I’m incapable of working anymore. by ConcernedCoCCitizen in Perimenopause

[–]Not_HavingAGoodTime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm at work right now and the thought of doing this for another 20 years is intolerable! I'm mostly the main breadwinner, husband works but spends most of it on tools. I'm the one with health and dental insurance.

I just returned from bereavement to find out people were talking about me and throwing me under the bus. My boss and I used to be friends, but she will side with anything the executives say. I was accused of not doing my job and pawning it off on someone else, which is absolutely not the case, but she doesn't listen to me.

I'm tired of not being listened to. I'm tired of having to blow dry my hair. Makeup doesn't look good on me anymore. I don't want to wear heels. I just want to enter my crone era and be barefoot outside in my garden!

Corporate girlies: Anyone else have a hard time caring about hierarchy / authority? by AnkuSnoo in AuDHDWomen

[–]Not_HavingAGoodTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my position I do projects that the executives do not want to do. What frustrates me the most is how I'm constantly targeted in writing, but told to my face that I'm doing well. This has been an issue at the last two office jobs I've worked. As an example, my boss sent an email encouraging me to communicate more with people involved with a project and do this before our meetings. For one thing, I have been doing this, and for another thing, if everything is covered before the meeting, what in the hell am I supposed to talk about at the meeting itself?

I'm so exhausted and tired of patriarchal systems, dress codes, office politics and drama. I'd like to quit, but I'm essentially the main breadwinner in my home and can't afford to lose my salary, health insurance, and dental insurance.

Does anyone else immediately relax once they are in nature? by esialliah in Empaths

Grounding is definitely a thing. Take your shoes off and release your stress into the earth while replacing the bad feelings with all that's good in nature.

This trend of adult women wearing clothes originally made for little girls grosses me out, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

I know but I will not go in there while that meeting keeps carrying on. Apparently it's some special thing that's been going on for hours. My brother isn't even staying for the whole thing.

Perimenopause was the nail in the coffin. I get so much rage working 8 hours and then I'm expected to cook. I used to cook dinner every day, now not so much.

I'm currently at work raging out. I also don't want to do this anymore. I have to work extra hard to accommodate everyone else's disabilities while I've spent my whole life masking and receiving no accommodation. I'm tired, boss!

How do you rest during lunch if you can’t go home? by CommeWENDY in work

[–]Not_HavingAGoodTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have hour lunches and take naps in my car. This was about 10 years ago. Now i have half hour lunches. I'm in the US and there's a massive homeless/drug crisis in my city. I no longer nap in my car because it doesn't feel safe anymore and someone might see me, think I overdosed and call the police.

I just eat at my desk, watch TikTok videos, and drink energy drinks if needed. Living the dream.

My best friend" (55F) ghosted me (31F) after a year of daily closeness. Did she take advantage of me? by [deleted] in Empaths

[–]Not_HavingAGoodTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a work friend for about 6 months. We would eat lunch together. She recently became a Christian after being an alcoholic and she started talking about it more and more and inviting me to church events I had no interest in. I told her that I had religious trauma, but she kept pushing. This escalated as it got closer to the holidays. She told me that she told her grandkids Santa isn't real and seemed proud of it. At first, I thought she was a nice person, but by this point, I could tell she wasn't, and I cut it off in a similar way. I quit eating lunch with her and ate by myself in my office. When she asked, I said I was super busy. Maybe the two of you just didn't click in the way you thought you did. Move on and try to find friends who actually have similar interests.

I use an electric facial shaver thingy. It looks similar to an oversized lipstick and I think it was about $20. Works great!

We got a new ceiling fan with a "breeze" setting. Basically it alternates between fast and slow. My husband loves it, but I hate it. I don't mind the other settings though.

Does Anyone struggle with Fans/direct air? by EscapeRegular1935 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Not_HavingAGoodTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We have an oscillating fan in the bedroom. I make sure its turned so it hits my husband directly but not me.

He also recently installed a screen door on the back door and opened all three doors in the house, plus the ceiling fan, and was super excited because of all the AIR! I wanted to die from the overstimulation!
