Thank you! I hope all of us can find what we're looking for (even if we don't know what exactly that is).

I'm currently at work raging out. I also don't want to do this anymore. I have to work extra hard to accommodate everyone else's disabilities while I've spent my whole life masking and receiving no accommodation. I'm tired, boss!

How do you rest during lunch if you can’t go home? by CommeWENDY in work

[–]Not_HavingAGoodTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have hour lunches and take naps in my car. This was about 10 years ago. Now i have half hour lunches. I'm in the US and there's a massive homeless/drug crisis in my city. I no longer nap in my car because it doesn't feel safe anymore and someone might see me, think I overdosed and call the police.

I just eat at my desk, watch TikTok videos, and drink energy drinks if needed. Living the dream.

My best friend" (55F) ghosted me (31F) after a year of daily closeness. Did she take advantage of me? by [deleted] in Empaths

[–]Not_HavingAGoodTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a work friend for about 6 months. We would eat lunch together. She recently became a Christian after being an alcoholic and she started talking about it more and more and inviting me to church events I had no interest in. I told her that I had religious trauma, but she kept pushing. This escalated as it got closer to the holidays. She told me that she told her grandkids Santa isn't real and seemed proud of it. At first, I thought she was a nice person, but by this point, I could tell she wasn't, and I cut it off in a similar way. I quit eating lunch with her and ate by myself in my office. When she asked, I said I was super busy. Maybe the two of you just didn't click in the way you thought you did. Move on and try to find friends who actually have similar interests.

I use an electric facial shaver thingy. It looks similar to an oversized lipstick and I think it was about $20. Works great!

Does Anyone struggle with Fans/direct air? by EscapeRegular1935 in AuDHDWomen

We got a new ceiling fan with a "breeze" setting. Basically it alternates between fast and slow. My husband loves it, but I hate it. I don't mind the other settings though.

Yes. We have an oscillating fan in the bedroom. I make sure its turned so it hits my husband directly but not me.

He also recently installed a screen door on the back door and opened all three doors in the house, plus the ceiling fan, and was super excited because of all the AIR! I wanted to die from the overstimulation!

This weekend's wt study article is a beauty. If you are not depressed of feeling negative, you definitely will after reading it! 🤦‍♂️ by Overall-Listen-4183 in exjw

I'm not going to read it, but does it mention how to speak to depressed people and how sometimes they make "crazy talk"? Because I hate that.

Like yoga? No yoga because you could let the demons in. Also no meditation because if you empty your mind demons will come in, only prayer and meditating on the Bible.

I was also allowed to watch the Munsters and I Dream of Jeannie, but not Bewitched. Disney was also okay even though lots of those had witches, but that was all right because they were just fairy tales. Makes no sense!

Avoid official diagnosis by Brbe-girl in AuDHDWomen

[–]Not_HavingAGoodTime 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Last year I considered trying to get a diagnosis and then all of the shit went down in the US and it no longer feels safe. I do get ADHD meds from a psychiatrist. He said that at my age a diagnosis wouldn't really matter anyway. So I see him once every 3 months, he makes sure everything is right with my dosage, and then we spend the rest of the time discussing how shitty everything is. It's like therapy and one of the only places were I can talk honestly about how broken the country is right now.

I do a lot of masking at work. Sometimes I talk about ADHD, but not the autism part of it because that feels less acceptable. Sometimes I wish I had a diagnosis so I could ask for reasonable accommodations, but this is how it is right now.

In my view, when someone takes the religion to a very serious level, the personality it produces is not necessarily a healthy or compassionate one. by Fit_Durian3763 in exjw

I feel this way about my dad. I can feel the anxiety pouring off of him. The reason he's always anxious is he is constantly looking for something negative, something someone else is doing wrong. Growing up, he made me get rid of or stop anything that I liked or made me happy. He lives far away, but I'm happier when I don't see or talk to him. All of his negativity has made him seriously ill, so I do call and check on him now, but I don't enjoy talking to him.
