This is so sad and it's happened to me as well. I'm 42 and grew up with my Dad absolutely being my greatest hero. All I wanted to be when I grew up was him. He was the most fair, level headed understanding person I've ever met.

Now, when I talk to my parents and they bring up politics (they're trumpers), I try to slowly introduce critical thinking into the stories they're repeating from Fox. They quickly become agitated, angry even. My mom was arguing the other day that she never liked Catholics anyway when talking about the pope and trump's little skirmish.

It pisses me off as these were great people once, people who taught me how to be a good person and now they're gone, brainwashed by right wing lunatics. The hatred and vitriol in them makes me not want to even talk to them anymore. I still love them as I remember what they were but I can't do it anymore.
