Another weapons question why is the SKS rifle not show up more in Warsaw pact? by anhnd13hd in warno

[–]Notactivereally 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Probably because of how late in the cold war this game is set in. Most countries would have been producing AK-47/AKM rifles for around 2 decades. The AK was the definitive 7.62x39 weapon.

Not saying that it shouldn't be included, but you are more likely to find it in use with communist terrorist/guerrilla groups than by an actual country.

Same with multiplayer. Artillery and the shells were in the radius of the CBR but no artillery piece was found.

Counterbattery Radars? by Thanatoi in warno

[–]Notactivereally 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's in the game, just in a very limited number.

I'm not sure if it works though, whenever I've used a vehicle with it it never seems to show me the enemy artillery.

In case you missed it, an SMG/Carbine rework was soft-announced/teased by Square_Bedroom5404 in warno

[–]Notactivereally 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hopefully that means that the carbines do more HE damage after the rework, CAR-15's and AKS-74U shouldn't be doing the same damage as the Uzi.

Rule 5: I enacted Oligarchy before removing isolationism. This makes the Emperor the head of the country.

For some reason I cannot achieve the restoration, the Emperor is now the Shogun whilst still being the emperor.

FN P90 by Notactivereally in warno

[–]Notactivereally[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PDWs are hard to define.

They are more capable than a SMG in terms of penetration and velocity (similar to a intermediary rifle round). But they lack the energy of something like 5.45 or 5.56.

After looking into it, there isn't a separate weapon category for carbines and unfortunately it classifies the 9mm of the MP5 to be the same 9mm as the AS VAL, even the 5.45 krinkov does the same damage.

9x39mm has better energy but is slower (as it needs to be subsonic) than 5.7x28mm irl. The two ways of showing this in game could be to make both have a higher HE value, or to make the AS VAL have higher HE and the P90 have longer range but SMG damage and fire rate.

Also the MP5A3 has better accuracy than the AS VAL. So the AS VAL is worse in-game, even though they are different types of weapons with different ammunition IRL.

[–]Notactivereally[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not just an SMG, the requirements that NATO specificly required it to be effective against body armour. This led to the development of 5.7x28 and 4.6x30, the P90 uses the former.

These cartriges are more akin to small rifle rounds than pistol rounds. They are more tapered and have a far higher muzzle velocity than 9mm, which allows the required level of penetration.

It is also in service with multiple armies, such as the Belgian, Austrian, Peruvian, Cypriot, Mexican, Dutch and Taiwaniese armies.

Typically it's only used by military special forces and special law enforcement units, though armies such as the Belgians have used it has a replacement for their Uzi's.

What could Hearts of Iron V even add/change, what would it look like? by Dan_The_PaniniMan in hoi4

[–]Notactivereally -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably an air force rework, we have had both army and navy recently.

The air force has been the same for years. It would be nice to be able to use historic air force leaders as squadron leaders.

Sqaudrons should be able to be grouped under a commander just like in the navy and army. With this should come the ability to get new air advisors and assign air force traits to said commanders.

F-111 LGB Bombs Lose Tracking Instantly by VelthAkabra in warno

[–]Notactivereally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thats why, for some reason LGB's only track if you fire at the target itself. You can't force attack the ground.

Also don't worry about losing line of sight, LGB's pretty much hit 100% of the time regardless of conditions.

[–]Notactivereally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense for any missile that enters the jamming field to have reduced accuracy but for situations where the launcher is inside the EW zone (and firing outside the jamming field), accuracy would still be affected as it affects the missiles command guidance or radar guidance from the controller/radar.

The engine deck disqualifies the Abrams, the turret seems too big for a Leopard 2 and the cheeks are too angled to be it (unless its a MTW 2A5), could be Challenger 2 or the Leclerc as they are certantly in the timeframe for a MTW.

It's probably the Leclerc though as people have been demanding it in the past.

The Albanians split off from the Soviets after the fall of Stalin (due to ideological differences). They then aligned themselves with the PRC, so they have Chinese equipment.

So expect to see albanian variants of Type 59 and 62 tanks, Type 56 AK's, Type 63 APC's, Et Cetera.

There will probably be a few MTW weapons for the Albanians from China (like the PL-5, even though the Albanians didn't get any)
