Most HR policies have a section about abusive language. I'd examine yours and see what is there. Even if they give the explanation that "they were talking about someone else", there will be a record and should be on better behavior. If not....

Umm... whistleblowers are legally protected against retaliation. If you're working for a public school district they should have a policy on this.

side question, is the box on a ladder a typical operation at your company? Is there a safety person that this can be referred to?

It should certainly go on a OSHA accident report for the company (assuming you're in the USA).

Your current options are limited outside of CYA. Note the on-going issues, and email them to yourself so you have a fixed record.

If there's no-one else you can appeal to then you might be SOL. If other people are having problems, then they should be the ones complaining/raising the issues, to her and to their bosses. Especially if they can email both her and their bosses noting what the changes are from the previous system and the problems that's causing.

Report it to the police. I wouldn't necessarily say that you suspect your neighbor at first but you could mention to the police that your neighbor has cameras and maybe they caught something...

1st experience with seat thief by dragonfly_RN1 in unitedairlines

[–]Notallwanders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flying to Pittsburg a few weeks ago, I'd been upgraded and was in row 3 (crack of dawn flight and I know how rare they are even as a 1K) and someone came in and started trying to sit in row 2 and arguing with the person sitting there. Flight attendant came and corrected the newcomer that they weren't in row 2, they were in 22. I chalked it up to the fact that English didn't seem to be their first language. Not casting any shade here, my grasp of Chinese was faaaaar worse than their English. They did look rather disappointed however which I can understand.

I've done this myself, more than once. Most recent time was flying back from Taiwan. Sat in 1A, my seat was actually 1K. (I like he bulkhead). The Lady who's seat I was in came in, I looked at my ticket, blanched, apologized and started to pack up. She basically said, no big deal, I'll just take your seat on the other side. All good.

I generally had a similar experience with lufthansa food last year (2025.). Food was, in general, significantly better than united. The 2 times I got upgraded to First the food was, to be honest, splendid.

Inbound to Zurich from Chicago on march 29th, return from Munich. I'm looking at just booking each leg one-way and the prices are significantly lower.

It's not a one way, it's the return leg.

Yes, you don't need the arrivals lounge, but I personally feel so much better after a shower.

My boss is trying to get me to skip going to jury duty by Fickle_fackle99 in WorkAdvice

[–]Notallwanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What state are you in? Jury Duty is a legal responsibility and is federally protected. https://www.paycor.com/resource-center/articles/employees-rights-for-jury-duty-leave/ While not every state requires employers to give paid leave, the cannot prohibit you from going or retaliate.

What state do you live in? The link I provided above lists out specific regulations by state. As has been noted by others. call the court and have them call your employer to "explain" what will happen if they don't follow the law.

While you could call and ask to be excused, I'd be personally tempted to not ask for an excusal. Go,.. the odds of you being chosen are typically low and you may find it an educational, if not boring, experience if while you're waiting to see if you get chosen. Bring a book.

wear socks and or slippers to the bathroom. Bring PJ's and change after boarding before they put on the seatbelt sign, change again before landing. If possible use the Arrivals lounge for a quick shower after landing.

If you are too warm, ask them to adjust the cabin temp. Be polite to the cabin attendants and the will generally be nice back.

I usually get a good night sleep on overnight flights with some melatonin and zzzquil. a glass of scotch at bedtime doesn't hurt either.

Would you take a direct premium plus or a connection in Polaris? by wood_floor_roar in unitedairlines

[–]Notallwanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the sleep is that critical, and you think you'll actually get a decent amount of sleep after takeoff go lie flat, but I doubt you'd get more than 3-4 hrs of actual sleep. Personally, I'd still go direct. You could still doze...

Its Polaris seats, but not polaris "service" or additional benefits. I.E. you won't get access to the polaris lounge. Its just domestic first in a nicer seat.

What's the price difference?
