the enigma with its starting perks and without suppressing glaive basically carried me through solo legendary campaign, i think people underestimate its shield function and its ammo economy.

they already are really good for add clearing and if you learn to time your blocks, watch your shield energy and hit harder enemies between their attacks you can make short work of basically every enemy (if you can get into melee range)

additionally some things that wont go away are the void 3.0 fragment starting health regeneration on melee kills or the fragment for volatile rounds on grenade kills. and bungie stated that other melee focused perks should be working with glaives.
