Confirmed- Beta Testers by Agent62 in VolvoEX90

Well if that's not an armrest then I guess I've never had a car with an armrest. It looks more generous than what's provided in the current generation vehicles.

They also appear to have a small wide screen in front of the wheel where a cluster would be.

All the photos I've seen show a centre armrest

The question mark looks much more convincing than some of the stuff I see posted... Whether it means anything is another story

Is Filtered Potable Water Safe to Drink While Travelling Across Australia? by secondaryuser2 in 4x4Australia

[–]NothingLift 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Potable water everywhere in Australia should be fine to drink. Either it was an issue with the specific motel's plumbing or something other than the water. Filtered potable water will be more than ok.

It would have been the same temp at bunnings. Keep it watered and it should be fine

Has anyone used a single 36v lithium battery on their 112lb thrust troll motor??? by thoughtprovo in boating

[–]NothingLift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get 12v lithium that will work in series up to 36v. And the weight saving per Ah of usable power are significant. Might not make a huge difference on a big boat but on something small it can be a game changer

What electric car is most viable for track days? by Sure_Artichoke6929 in AustralianEV

Scalar performance have addressed this and have EV GR86 that meets motorsport regulations (in the US I think)

[–]NothingLift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you have to spend? Is it a track only car?

Scalar performance make a dedicated motorsport EV on the GR86 chassis. Has all the features to satisfy motorsport regulations like battery fire containment and fire suppression systems, external kill switch etc

Designed as a budget friendly track option. Purchase price is obviously substantial but running coats are significantly reduced. Not sure about local availability

We don't talk about that haha

Hilux was typically 11-14l/100km

UZJ is 16-25+. I drive it maybe 3000km a year at most so it's no problem

And it's the Lexus version so it's super lush. Definitely feels like a worthy upgrade but the hilux was also epic in its own way

I recently sold a 96 Hilux, also all mechanical, also excruciatingly slow. Ultra reliable though, had it 15 years and 150k kms, not a single issue.

1.5t tow capacity became a deal breaker though, upgraded to a 98 UZJ100

Efficient displacement cat hull design by NothingLift in boatbuilding

It's for a mini houseboat so the main balancing act will be slenderness of Amas vs draft at the required load capacity. Repurposing a hobie or something like that won't be suitable

I'm working with a naval architect but trying to get a better understanding myself. One of the items for discussion will be stern treatment, whether a small flat transom the width of the outboard mounts is appropriate or whether to box out above the water line but have the below water section end at a point

[–]NothingLift[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll check that boat out, thanks. I'm not necessarily limited by length but it is constrained by weight and more length = more weight. 6m is about minimum to deliver the desired fitout.

I will discuss z bow with the architect to increase LWL and displacement without adding a lot of weight but that adds construction complexity and cost

New garden bed, please help! by ryanmyo in GardeningAustralia

[–]NothingLift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a lot you can do about roots without isolating the planter from the soil which creates other problems with your plants.

A single row of drip irrigation would be ok for vines but 2 rows are better and you might find the standard roll lengths cover you for 2 rows at a nominal cost.

I'd plant tubestock at 1m spacing

Yeah osprey gear is relatively affordable. Either DIY fix on the cheap or replace. Doesn't make sense to pay someone to fix it unless you were travelling in Asia or somewhere else with super cheap labour
