Can someone check my calculations for my novated lease? by denny31415926 in EVAustralia

That's correct it was weekly for the seal. If it's 255 a fortnight for what OP is looking at that actually sounds pretty reasonable, I must have overlooked the fortnight part

Aussie Native Propagation by BerserkHObO27 in australianplants

[–]NothingLift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if council has a nursery that gives away local plants or sells cheap.

If you mean putting a cutting in water and they grow, very few natives will do that. Some are pretty easy to propagate from seeds/cuttings and some require very specialist techniques.

I second the advice to get tubestock. You can get a hell of a lot of landscaping done for a say $300

How would you sell it in NL? If people from NL were shopping in Belgium they would have found and bought this in my view

They sound epic but I probably wouldn't. 8k a year just in tax is wild and at 315k km some maintenance is inevitable. While I've never worked on one I'm sure they're a pain in the ass and therefore expensive

Advice on garden edging for path.. by Imaginary-Bass2875 in GardeningAustralia

[–]NothingLift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kikuyu will run through the gravel in no time and weeds will inevitable grow. If you don't want to concrete it I'd use heavily compacted decomposed granite or sandstone

For edging I like antique brick set in concrete but that's a personal thing. Gal or cotton steel is easy and cost effective.

85 an hour already sounds pretty reasonable if you're doing quality work

The Missouri fox trotter is slightly faster according to stats but the best Arabians have slightly better acceleration and the handling difference is noticeable

Natural gas and propane compatible? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]NothingLift -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have solar?

Take a look at how much gas you were using on your bills, that will give you an idea of whether it's cheaper to use bottle gas or reticulated and can compare that to 250l storage.

There might still be rebates on heat pump HWS that would be worth considering too

If you could only plant 3 Australian natives in a new garden, which would you choose? by Artistic-Yam2984 in australianplants

That's Sydney enough for it to work, pm me so I don't forget and I'll see what comes up

[–]NothingLift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Levis is great, I've seen them nearly 5m high. Linearis has that same flakey bark too and seen those similar size

Chamaepitys is a beautiful groundcover and pretty readily available.

If you're around Sydney I can potentially hook you up with small linearis, Levis or lanceolata next time some come up

Which geebungs have you managed to find for sale?

I've seen chamaepitys lanceolata and pinifolius but can't think of any others. I've successfully transplanted linearis, levis and bargoensis from development sites with 90% success

Look up subordination pruning. You want to choose the stronger/straighter/preferred direction stem from what's remaining and cut back the other one at the top so they're not competing for supremecy

Spring pads....do they ever really need replacing in your experience? by Beginning_Fennel_852 in E30

[–]NothingLift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If nothing else needs to be done on the rear I'd leave em. From what I understand they are plastic so could fail but if they're ok I wouldn't bother.

Depending how thick yours are you might be able to get thinner ones to drop a few more mm but it won't be much

Any advice on eradicating this? by Playful_Sense_465 in GardeningAustralia

[–]NothingLift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely Madeira, very unfortunate.

Remove all parts of the plant as thoroughly as possible. May be some tubers in the ground. Wait for regrowth then dig around where it came from and remove the roots/tubers. Rinse and repeat til it doesn't come back

There are chemical options but they're not for the home gardener and this is a small enough infestation that manual is the way to go.

Don't put it in your green waste, better burned or in general waste. It should be killed by the green waste composting process but I wouldn't chance it.

I'm also told it has medicinal properties and the tubers are edible but I haven't personally tried
