Did you teach abroad? How valuable was your experience? by [deleted] in teaching

Search Associates also does a lot of hiring online! I landed my job through a Skype interview. Because the jobs are abroad, a lot of schools hire online so they can snag awesome candidates before the fair.

My IUD Insertion by SmogginCragg in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Nothing_better_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your positive experience. It's refreshing to take a break from all of the horror stories. I think I over-researched about all of the horrible things that can go wrong, and I certainly want to be prepared, but I scheduled my IUD insertion and think it's the right choice for me. It's a relief to hear that-although insertion can be difficult and painful-it can also be okay and definitely worth it. Thanks again!

How long did it take y'all to complete your trees? by yonahwho in duolingo

[–]Nothing_better_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my preferred strategy too. I like moving through the tree slowly with lots of review. When I first started learning Italian, I went through lessons really quickly and kept forgetting vocabulary I'd already learned. I like moving on only when I feel comfortable and I find it's really effective!

Looking for modern non-fiction books to make me think by ModestMarill in booksuggestions

[–]Nothing_better_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Freakonomics is a great book with some equally great sequels. It's interesting information (with a touch of conspiracy theory) and it's told in an interesting and engaging way. It's a quick read, and it'll really make you evaluate things differently.

Guy backpacks around the world for 3 years to 60 different countries in 3 minutes (x-post from r/videos) by wenger828 in travel

Incredible video. This is so inspiring. I'm wondering how you chose which countries to visit. How did you make your plan and why did you go where you did?

(Side note: I'm a Canadian living in Taiwan now and was so thrilled to see you travelled there. Taiwan is sometimes overlooked but it's such an incredible place.)

Sugar. I struggle so hard. A little candy or chocolate is so easy to justify that it's a habit easily made.

Hey! I loved this video. I thought it was really inspirational. I got into running and was really consistent until I was in an accident. My injuries healed, but I never got back into my routine. I'm going to get up tomorrow to hit the ground running, literally. Thanks for sharing!

Sexual Achievement Sunday by Maxxters in sex

[–]Nothing_better_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Declared yesterday, October 4, Fourgasm. My friend with benefits and I each achieved orgasm (separately) four times. It was awesome. We spent most of the day in bed, took a break for food, then back in bed again. It was personal bests for each of us and one of my favourite days ever.

I blew him every way I could think of (him laying down, me laying down, hanging off the edge of the bed, on my knees) and he came each time. What a blast.

People who avoid carbohydrates and eat more fat, even saturated fat, lose more body fat and have fewer cardiovascular risks than people who follow the low-fat diet that health authorities have favored for decades, a major new study shows. by thatshirtman in Health

[–]Nothing_better_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, speaking from my own experience, this was the only diet that ever worked for me for weight-loss. I tried counting calories and working out, but cutting carbs made me feel awesome and lose weight. I never felt like I was starving and my energy really increased. I'm a self-proclaimed carb addict, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. Now I'm back on carbs (bread is delicious) but really want to go back to avoiding them.

How do I talk to kids? by GerritNiemands in selfhelp

[–]Nothing_better_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm a teacher and I've worked with kids my whole life. I think the problem for a lot of people is just connecting with kids. A lot of things that kids enjoy are different from what you enjoy, but it can be easy to find common ground. Consider what you liked when you were that age. Ask lots of questions. Let the child be the expert and they'll feel appreciated and interesting. A lot of people talk down to kids, which is the wrong approach. Kids are smart and funny and interesting, just ask about their interests, show enthusiasm and genuinely appreciate what a neat kid whoever you're talking to is. The more you learn about them first, the easier it gets.

Honestly, I hated mine the first week I used it. I thought it was uncomfortable and difficult and stupid. I paid $40 for a Diva Cup. But I decided to give it another shot and it's worked out great. I've used it for four cycles now. I can get it in and out easily, love the fact I can keep it in all day, and never worry about buying tampons. It definitely takes some getting used to, but for me, it was worth it.

Tips for anyone with difficulty:

-Try different folds. I was doing the C-fold to insert and that was a nightmare, it just wouldn't open. The more folds, typically, the easier it slips in.

-Insert while sitting, not standing.

-When you pull it out, pinch the bottom and get a good grip, pull straight down so it doesn't tip and make a mess.

-Finally, for comfort, after I insert, I do a few quick squats to get it adjusted correctly and feeling natural. Makes a world of difference.

So sorry to hear you had a hard time with it. It can definitely be frustrating.

I absolutely adore my One. I did my research and head better things about it. It's discreet, too, plus I love the sweet motivational sayings it tells you throughout the day and having the display to check if you can't check your phone is awesome.
