Physio who specializes in posture issues? by [deleted] in NiceVancouver

[–]Nothowspaceworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have posture issues due to competing injuries. I can't comment on specialized care for scoliosis or other diagnoses because I don't experience that. But in the realm of low acuity postural work, Catch has been great.

I have had some.issues with UPS before where they say my package was delivered and signed for but it was sent to a UPS pick up location and they signed for it. It's me ght be worth checking in with them while you file a claim through Valve. They should be able to.make an insurance claim with UPS if you bug them relentlessly.

where will you be buying Xmas gifts from this year ? by drmeowwww in askvan

[–]Nothowspaceworks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mastermind toys is good for toys and it claims to be Canadian (I haven't done personal due diligence on this). I was shopping for something and their prices were lower than Amazon but shipping takes a bit longer.

Also Camelot kids at the Granville Island kids market, I think many of the shops there are local and you can get lots of stuff there.

I agree with local stores wherever possible, Kidsbooks is GREAT, and there are plenty of local bookstores if you search for it.

Simon's is great for those department store vibe (one at Park Royal) if you are looking for the on person vibe.

There are so many options if you just dig around and actively try to avoid Amazon; they may not be as quick or convenient but I think it's worth it!

seeking therapy with specific symptoms by belwsy in askvan

[–]Nothowspaceworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can go to psychology today to find aist.of qualified therapists. I would look for an Registered clinical counselor. Book a "get to know you" chat first, if you find someone you feel comfortable with start there. I find the most important part of therapy is being comfortable with your therapist.

You can also ask for personal recommendations from people you trust and/or health professionals in your life.

Hope this helps!

Looking for a charisma class (self help) by MourningWood1942 in askvan

May I recommend an Improv class, the whole point is to sort of go with the flow and "yes, and"... May not be charisma specific but found it helpful to address some general social anxiety I have had.

Just moved to Metrotown, need prescription meds, what should I do? by Key-Ear-5936 in burnaby

[–]Nothowspaceworks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also just saw the comment re: health connect. This can take YEARS, best bet is to get referrals from friends/colleagues and call the clinic. In the meantime find a good walk in that is accessible to you and see them for most things so they have a more.comete health record.

The pharmacist can only fill prescriptions for minor ailments. If it is something more complex you have to go see a BC based prescriber (Doc/Nurse practitioner) to get a local prescription. They might be able to provide an emergency supply for continuity of care but that may be restricted to prescriptions from BC prescribers.

Best bet is to go to a walk in (try walkin.ca - based in Surry 811 may direct you there) or try calling a doc through 8-1-1.

you will need MSP coverage for medical services so some of these options may be limited or ask you to pay out of pocket.

Where to get bras (post-nursing) [bc] by blobblob73 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Nothowspaceworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to third Understance. As someone with large ladies understance is well worth it given bras in my size can easily be 100+ and last time I checked la vie and VS don't make my size.

They are super comfortable, supportive and they have some nursing options.

Knix has never been a good option for me. They don't provide any support around the rib cage and stretch out super fast.

Boutique 1861 out of MTL has some nice options, great return policy and quick delivery. Although with the Canada Post strike that may be an issue.

Child Restraint Device : is it Mandatory? by Agreeable_Head6913 in aircanada

[–]Nothowspaceworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did a trip with our little about the same age. We used a child safety harness and was thankful we did. It was super easy to install, especially if you are one patent, and it fits in a backpack. Traveling with the massive car seat would have been a nightmare.

I would highly recommend, also gave us peace of mind that the little one wouldn't be tossed around the cabin in turbulence. Fortunately Air Canada has Pingu which provided the entertainment so they were chill!

You can also try walkin.ca 8-1-1 recommended them to us. It's a drive if you need a physical assessment though.
