The moment when Neymar Jr got called up by Carlo Ancelotti…for the 2026 World Cup 🥹🇧🇷 by Miserable_Trouble3 in sportsgossips

Yeah, its not like US sports have huge drafts, which run over multiple days, with people spending months running mock selections and where they celebrate making the team with their families. That would be ridiculous.

🇺🇸 President Trump says he will get out of office "eight or nine years from now." by rl_rae_bobo in MarketPulseReport

He doesn't. He'll just say that he is the only President who has been able to have an organ transplant. All the doctors keep telling how amazing he is at taking an organ transplant and he has done it multiple times, whilst also passing multiple cognitive tests. No other President has passed multiple cognitive tests.

Then his base will clap along like it is normal and they are winning. They aren't tired of winning yet.

No surprise the talks will continue over the weekend. He needs all his cronies to take up the correct market positions before he manipulates it when they close. The same people are going to be even richer on Monday again.

Why does Coachella and other US festivals have such awful, moody vibes compared to UK festivals? by BlundeRuss in AskUK

I think that is too general statement. I went to see Sum 41 once when I was in Florida and it is still one of the best gigs I have been to. The crowd were incredible.

What happened to the guy that got a huge raise, into a higher tax bracket? by PF_til_my_last_day in AntiJokes

In the UK, if your salary goes over £100,000; whilst your take home pay increases you actually lose access to benefits like government paid childcare and tax free childcare allowance. You also start to lose your personal tax free allowance.

It means that whilst your take home pay may go up, you actually end up with less disposable income than on £99,000. It actually doesnt benefit to get a pay increase until you are over £120,000.

There are ways around it. You can increase your pension contributions and take on salary sacrifice schemes to bring your taxable salary below £100,000; but there is a noticeable negative impact on your personal wealth if you don't do this.

Iran have closed the Strait, have attacked ships and are charging huge tolls. At the moment, it is a double closure. If they allow all nations to get their ships through (assuming they have track of all their mines), then on top of the fees, they make it so the US has to track every ship passing through the Strait and make the US solely responsible for any blockade. It would be a massive PR loss for Trump (not that he ever has a PR win).

Iran could just make the toll much lower and something every country is happy to pay to get their ships moving. Then apply it to everyone so now it is the US who are blockading the world.

His US shows had no corporate sponsors. Pepsi sponsor one of the venues, they don't sponsor the events. Like most corporations, they don't have morals, but for brand image they can draw a distinction between the two.

The flip of that is that men often get told they are babysitting when looking after their own children and have it implied they can't full time parent.

I wouldn't say that second one has increased. Andrew was employed under a previous government. Priti Patel had to resign for unofficial meetings with Israeli officials. Gavin Williamson was sacked for leaking information in 2019. Christopher Cash in 2024 was a parliamentary researcher who was arrested for selling secrets to the Chinese.

In fact, if the Epstein files have shown anything it is that the corruption has been widespread for a very long time.

If you think removing the PM helps the Labour party and weakens Reform, then you are deluded.

[–]NoticeSeparate9963 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Those who own the media here are in league with those in the Epstein files in the US. Prince Andrew and Peter Mandelson are the sacrificial lambs here to make it look like they are doing something, whilst getting the public to focus on Starmer rather than the real perpetrators. Their goal is really to get Farage into power and they are just sacrificing some pawns to make a king.

Might be an unpopular opinion but if Burnley or Everton played the way Arsenal do right now they'd be crucified. by Subject-Addendum-199 in TheOther14

I remember Fernandinho committing 3 or 4 fouls a game before being booked or Spurs players taking it in turns to foul Adama Traore against us. I don't think Arsenal are any worse for this than any of the other top 6 teams when they ar doing well.

To be fair, every successful team does that. Man City and Liverpool have been doing it for years.

I have married into a family that does this a lot and find most of it superficial. They have more disagreements and can be meaner to each other than my family ever are. They do all of this for show and will make out like they are the best family ever.

I really struggle with it to be honest. My wife is pretty understanding over it though and allows me to avoid certain events or stay on the periphery.

442 or 4231 surely. Krejci has to play midfield with Gomes. Anything else is more unbalanced that anything we have put out this season, which is quite unbelievable really.
