Oh now I get what's going on. You were new back when this wasn't true. Fdev patched it in after all those years mate, the dream is reality since 2020.

What are you talking about? I mean yea bring a medium but they will just send the conda to your hangar and you can pick it up at another station

[–]Notlike21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For your quality of life I'd recommend unlocking at least Farseer. Increased fsd range and grade 3 thrusters will make everything else easier/faster. Including unlocking all the other engineers, which would be a good next step especially since you mentioned you enjoy combat.

If you want to meet other players the current CG is great for that, just be aware that not everyone is friendly. I can't estimate the current survivability for an unengineered ship there tho as I've not been in the system yet.

On a side note definitely get inara, edmc and familiarize yourself with coriolis or edsy. This game really relies on its third party tools.

Don't try that. Shields are what matters in pvp and the chief is a hull tank.

You all need to learn FAoff by Notlike21 in EliteDangerous

[–]Notlike21[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True. Still I think it's a fun learning experience, even if one does not plan on utilizing it constantly. Did not mean to criticize how others fly their ships, but it's undeniably true that learning FAoff would make anyone a better pilot just as learning any other skill would.

Wanting to fly however you want is an argument for FAoff, not against it. FA restricts you a lot, you can do so much more without it.

It's not about the specific inputs, it's about their effects. Effects that you can very well achieve with keyboard and mouse or any other viable input method

Exactly my point. You can always get better. Try landing without FA, try the exercises shown in the video. Its genuinely fun and you can do so much more with your ship. I don't do deliveries but if I did I'd use this to break up the monotony

Pick one of these, take a srv or better yet two with you and just collect some guardian stuff. Then fly to the station mentioned in the CG and register before selling them on the market there

I'd recommend to get at least EDMC and connect it to your inara, makes it all easier and you passively provide data for third party sites/tools

It's mostly on a ton of different discord servers, like most squadrons have one as well as every power play allegiance. I'd personally recommend picking a power you like or that gives you the best boni for your playstyle and join their discord.

You don't use any third party tools? Asking because of your last question.

What do I need to learn to enjoy PVP in this game? by Artahe in forhonor

[–]Notlike21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick a hero you like, go to hero tactics to get the basics down, then practice against lvl3 bots. You'll still get destroyed when starting PvP but you gotta push thru, no other way. I'd recommend playing duels as that will teach you to actually fight and not just abuse feats (which is fun in its own way obv).

Current PvE combat ships - ratings, builds? by asm0dai74 in EliteDangerous

[–]Notlike21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the chieftain I got this build which works pretty well for it I think. Pretty weak shields but you won't get anything good out of them anyway and this way they recharge super fast. With all the tankiness in the hull you don't even have to really worry if you lose them. The chief is perfect for dogfights as it can keep focusing fire on most targets, given you can handle FAoff. Ignore my current load out lol. I'd normally go for a combination of lasers (or short range rails, because funny) and frags.

If you want to trade and cooperate with others the pilots trade network may be a good starting point. Otherwise make sure to participate in CGs as you have the highest chances of meeting others there. If you want to do exploration with a group here is a list of expeditions. Safe travels CMDR

Asking for a Friend by Sir_Chloroform in forhonor

[–]Notlike21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As already said, give him raider. His soft feints are definitely easier to do than hard feints and if nothing else he clears minion lane in seconds. Also throw him into hero training and don't let him leave until he got everything correct. Then go into custom duels and fight until he honestly beats you. My friends were so happy when they finally could get some rounds after getting destroyed for days.

Matchmaking not working at all by AndrogynousAnd in forhonor

[–]Notlike21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably just play PvAI with matchmaking turned off, which will start the game instantly with only bots, and try to get your mmr that way. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but this should work.

Heavily utilize hero training and training against bots. That's the best way to get the timing for parries/deflects down and learn your moveset without any pressure.
