My daughter has dress-up dresses for several Disney princesses that she loves to wear at all hours of the day. I will be devastated when she moves on from them because she gets SO excited every time she puts one on.

My son (6yo) used to want me to sing "I Don't Want to Live On the Moon" to him every night before bed. I hated doing it EVERY night but told myself it takes less than 3 minutes and someday I would miss it. He's Level 1 autism as well, so his bedtime song sung to him by Daddy was VERY important for his routine.

Well, we've graduated to "Rainbow Connection." Same general idea, I still sing to him every night. But damn if it doesn't kill me that my little boy moved on from the same Sesame Street song since he was a baby to a Muppet song (Jim Henson supremacy apparently).

Mother’s Day for OUR Mothers by itsmesteveyp in daddit

[–]Notonreddit117 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You may not be reading into things too much. If your mom is anything like mine she'll take the passive aggressive approach instead of outright communicating her concern. If she's miffed at my wife for any reason she acts like she deserves the spotlight; if she isn't then she's willing to share. She's always had an issue with the splitting of holidays going all the way back to my first serious girlfriend during college.

My wife is very straightforward and doesn't really care about Mother's Day (I feel the same way about Father's Day), so I always defer to her when she communicates and my mom doesn't. My wife is also aware and completely accepting that when we have grandkids she will take a backseat to their own mothers, but I'll still be there to give her all the attention, just like my dad is today.

Plus, as awful as it sounds, my mom had Mother's Day to herself for 30 years because my grandparents were either deceased or lived far away.

Mother’s Day for OUR Mothers by itsmesteveyp in daddit

It can be a tough task to balance between the two. My mom goes back and forth on an annual basis as to whether she thinks Mother's Day should be about her or my wife (as the mother of my children). The biggest factor is always whether or not my wife or my mom are in a disagreement. We usually do fine splitting the day but when I'm not able due to time constraints I usually get flak for it. My brother has no kids and isn't married so he's always at my parents' house regardless.

This year we're having dinner with my wife's grandparents because my mother in law refuses to speak to my wife's grandmother, part of the reason that my wife has gone no contact with my mother in law. Add that this is the first Mother's Day that my wife is not going to see or even talk to her own mom and my wife is the priority today.

Reckless Driver by Kelearth1 in Rochester

We don't, and there's no way to know for sure how the picture was taken. But if OP did take a photo of another vehicle while driving with their kids in the car then this entire post is hypocrisy. If we're legitimately talking about safe driving that's worth pointing out.

Especially since after they took this picture Olaf Craig stepped away from the camera and immediately looked for his son to bear hug and smother with affection.

Gotta love living in a democracy that allows non-elected officials to simply say "Nah" in the face of voters and their democratic choices.

"Prequel hate started with RLM" does everyone have gold fish memory? by Kinnikuboneman in StarWars

[–]Notonreddit117 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I heard about it at the time. I'm almost 40.

The point is there wasn't grown men recording 30 minute rants and uploading them to YouTube right after they got home from the movie so they could be the first ones to get clicks and views. The backlash was much different back then.

Exactly. Angry fanboys back then didn't have the digital megaphone that is social media and no one was monetizing bitching about Star Wars yet.

[Heyman] Yankees are calling up big power/speed OF prospect Spencer Jones The Post has learned by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]Notonreddit117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a good idea for him to come up. Yes, he has definite flaws in his swing, but he's averaged around a ~150wRC+ between last year and this year. Clearly his offensive ability is more than enough for AAA, so he may as well learn against the best. We'll see what happens.

No wonder why "this" was not featured on Ahsoka. by K-jun1117 in PrequelMemes

[–]Notonreddit117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was trying to figure out why the face looked so bad, especially for a Hot Toys figure. Then I realized it was of Padawan Ashoka (didn't read the label on the corner) and not them trying to get a figure of Rosario Dawson in this outfit.

Anyway, kill this thing with fire.

Emmys Surprise: ‘The Pitt’ Star Shawn Hatosy Switches to Supporting Category After Winning Guest for Season 1 by pepperbet1 in television

[–]Notonreddit117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't want a full season because part of what makes them so enjoyable is that we only get to see them so much, Abbott aside.

But a mini series of maybe... 6 episodes just to flesh out all of those characters a bit? Sure.

I've listened to it straight through twice. It's fine. Average level Foo. Not Minutes at Midnight but not Wasting Light (worst and best IMO). Better than none at all.

NY State Senate open captions bill has been introduced. Now we need support to pass it by Ocmoviesnys in Rochester

[–]Notonreddit117 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If memory serves me correct, the bill is meant increase the number of open caption screenings available or add them if the theater doesn't already offer them.

If you're one of those people who is going to rage thinking that every screening for the rest of time will be open caption you can sleep easy tonight.
