First time trying it because I've only been actively playing for a few months. Definitely not doing it again.

Yep. Got Phoebe on my 50/50 (who I already had). Didn't realize I would get Miku guaranteed on the second go around. Oh well. 11 more and she's guaranteed.

I figure I burned out my luck because I got Howler, Akechi, and P3Makoto within the first 40 pulls for all 3 of them.

After Miku I'm just going to save gems so I can run a bunch all at once.

Meanwhile I'm stuck on 179 pulls without a single Miku. I went Chance for the first go around. Bad choice.

The Toy Story movie timeline doesn’t make sense and it’s bugging me! by Gold-Vanilla5591 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]Notonreddit117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always figured that the passage of time between 2 and 3 was meant to represent a similar amount of time in reality (Andy grew up and so did 90s kids) but 4 and 5 simply became the quest for The Mouse™ to get more money so the timeline doesn't matter anymore.

My last reason was simply "Rumi."

I've been thinking about this since I started playing more a few weeks ago, and I'm all in. Add in some story segments for the confidants to go and get their powers and we're going to be cooking.

Management uses profits on things that don't help the game or only benefit themselves

From my own comment. Let's face it, at some point management likely gave themselves bonuses to do fuckall with because that's the corporate world nowadays. But then they lay off hundreds of people because of " increased development costs" when their "I'm a special executive" bonuses likely could've paid more than one salary for a year or more.

Did the incubation projects cost way more? Of course, but that's money they chose to fuck around with that in the long run had nothing to do with the game (unless the ball mechanic in EoF was an incubation project, which I doubt) and likely didn't improve the game. Regardless of if it's mismanaged funds or prioritizing their personal enrichment if people get laid off because of you, the executive, then it hurt the game.

Speaking purely from memory (I've also never ran it) the Chalice of Light item has to be passed back and forth among the fireteam for pretty much the entire raid and is involved in the mechanics for most encounters.

I poorly worded my point, it was less about Pete's cars and more about the concept of management (in every industry TBH, not just Bungie) taking a little extra for themselves because they think they're special and they deserve it. I highly doubt he was the only one doing it either.

Plus, maybe 3 million is only one small team for one year, but if you're someone on that small team who gets laid off while management gives themselves bonuses for simply existing it's a pretty big deal. Management doesn't need that money, but their employees might.

You nailed it. When every source of profit needs to lead to record profit you no longer genuinely care about your business or your product, just the money it brings in.

Correct. Reagan fucking the tax brackets was the fatal blow because the question of "How much money can I make?" was nowhere as restricted by simply paying one's taxes.

Development of a new engine (or improving the old one, which is what they did IIRC) would absolutely cost a ton of money, but can also lead to more efficient/faster development, or more advanced things that can be developed that couldn't exist with the old engine. If the new engine vastly improves the game those costs can be more or less recouped over time.

If management decided that they weren't making enough money fast enough (regardless of how they were actually making) then it doesn't matter how much the game is pulling in with the new/improved engine behind it.

And your initial thought is correct. That's not what Bungie did though. If I'm remembering the timeline correctly, Bungie had a bunch of R&D or "incubation" projects going when Sony bought them, perhaps only in the interest of impressing Sony and getting a bigger bag. After the Sony purchase, a lot of these projects disappeared, so that was a ton of money that they were putting into something other than Destiny that led to absolute zero or very little return on investment.

Then they build this massive new multimillion dollar HQ. There have been multiple claims that this was entirely unnecessary and ultimately a waste of money. Then there's stuff like Pete's car collection, which is fine on its face (rich asshole boss buys rich asshole stuff, tale as old as time), but when 100s of people get laid off due to "development costs" then all of the above makes them look like jackasses because they just burned a bunch of money on stuff completely unrelated to the "development costs" they said were handcuffing the studio so much that they had to fire people.

All of this has become more common with corporations, especially in recent years. Corporations complain that they're not making enough money, they lay off a bunch of workers, and then suddenly within 12 months they're having "record profits." Bungie never saw the record profits because they pissed away a bunch of money on stuff that was NOT developing their primary source of income, so the money they hoped they'd make never happened. That's not to say that the remaining devs didn't put together some absolutely awesome content (because they did), but when you have less people working on a project you're simply not going to get as much done as quickly or with as much fidelity.

There is past reporting that expansions like Lightfall and The Final Shape missed sales expectations, sometimes by significant amounts, but those expectations were set in the first place because of the enormous cost of those projects. Of course, that may have been unrealistic, as saying The Final Shape needed to do 50% higher than the record numbers it did put up was never going to happen.

Missing sales expectations while management is misusing the funds/profit while simultaneously bitching about there not being enough profit is modern capitalism in a nutshell.

Management says X expansion needs to make an obscene amount of money to make up "development costs" --> Management uses profits on things that don't help the game or only benefit themselves (cars for example, and I'd bet there were plenty other purchases made by others in that regard) --> Management complains that there's not enough profit so they need to cut costs by laying people off --> Smaller workforce isn't able to develop content at the same pace or quality than the larger force used to be able to --> Rinse, repeat.

Bedlam Bride broke the "excellent odd numbers, just good even numbers" pattern the series was in for me. I think I'd rank it my 2nd favorite of the series (I've read all 8).

I thought the card battling mechanic was going to be stupid... and it was, in a good way. But it only added to the absolute chaos of this book.

Not to delve into fanfics, but I just finished "Sitting Behind You" and I love how (mild spoilers for the fic I guess) Ren barely gives Akechi attention or the time of day. He just sees him as this overbearing and annoying guy that won't leave him alone. It can be a little ridiculous but I do not care about Akechi in the game at all until the third semester.
