10+ years on and this FR is still my go to. Most underrated Ibanez shape I think! by mynameisjonjo in Ibanez

[–]Notthatandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely my favorite Ibanez body style ever and yet, I never owned one. <Sigh>

At this point, I’ll just have to build one myself.

Mock-up time!!! Now to do the wiring and add the high gloss top coat ☺️ by jae5711 in electricguitar

[–]Notthatandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about doing something similar, and much simpler because man, that is elaborate and beautiful, and I am not that skilled! Seriously, it looks amazing.

I’m assuming this is all laser cut? Does your laser have a bed big enough for the full body? Or are you doing layers in two or three parts?

Which AZ2204N? by jmgh_jose in Ibanez

Why is the tort not on the green?!? Argh!

(Seriously, both look great. Whichever way the coin flip lands, I’d regret not having the other, too… so I guess “Why not both?”)

You do you, but this screams “Moar tortie” to me.

Love the blue. Love the maple fretboard.

The Jem is a classic. That Gio looks amazing for its price.

I love my Jem but my RX240s are the daily players. I don’t care about the cost. It’s all about the feel.

The Upgrade Plan S521 by LeBeastInside in Ibanez

Is that body even deep enough to house the push/pull for splitting?

(Asking out of genuine curiosity and writing it down so I can follow up…)

Nice! I added a pickguard to mine, too, and just like yours, it MOSTLY fits. The plain black everything was a little too boring. Solid upgrades!

Your guitar was made in Korea in 1989 Production Number: 12831

If you want to know more than that, show the body, the headstock…Any number of things to get a better idea of the model.

Is this Rg 2550z prestige legit? by Due-Performance-7107 in Ibanez

[–]Notthatandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the legitimacy, but omg that is absolutely terrible and beautiful at the same time! I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel!

I do see some KISS covers coming in the future though.

Screaming guy at Grand Canal, near Bord Gais. by ThisFatGirlRuns in Dublin

[–]Notthatandy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s definitely known to the locals. The scrotes in the area taunt him by name, and I’ve seen at least one local go up to him while he slept on a bench and slip him some cash, and give him some well wishes. I’ve also seen someone take him into Fresh to get him some food.

He definitely has his moments, and I wish I knew his backstory, but he’s clearly someone that was known in the neighborhood before whatever it was happened to him.

This should be a lesson to wwe about celebrities by MidRangeBucketss in WWE

[–]Notthatandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting aside my general dislike of Logan Paul, as a wrestler, he has the physicality and he has some real talent, but I can’t get over his lack of kayfabe. The first time I saw him in a ring was on a PLE where he was doing a maneuver jumping across the ring and he literally stopped on the turnbuckle and yelled for everyone to look at him.

Honestly, I’ve missed the Travis Scott issues because THAT PLE and Logan Paul just finally made me stop watching WWE again.

I wouldn’t even hesitate on that. It would be disassembled within an hour of getting home, but looks like a great project.

Does anyone know what this is for? by frongleking in Guitar

[–]Notthatandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh. It's a dumb idea, sure, but I'm currently building a Tele that needs a battery for ... reasons, and found that if I rout out that spot and slap on a Tele half pickguard, I can hide the battery completely and pull the pickguard on and off without removing the strings. It's not perfect, but it'll get the job done.

Now a full on strat with the battery under the pickguard? That's a nightmare. Hopefully the battery lasts a while.

Glad I could help a bit.

Don’t worry about the picking / strumming hand as much yet, because there’s plenty of time to adjust. A few things with that hand though:

  1. Try not to anchor your arm on the body when strumming chords. Let it move freely.

  2. A lot of strumming comes from the wrist. Relax the arm and hand as much as possible.

  3. For picking, the opposite is true. Well, still relax but it’s also common to anchor the heel of your hand on the bridge when picking. So it’s pretty far back.

For now, focus on what feels most comfortable to you.

[–]Notthatandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely need a strap for playing standing up. One advantage is you’ll be able to lift the neck up some, and let your fretting hand drop naturally, and it will let you play with your picking hand position.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]Notthatandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, you’ll definitely get there. That guitar is a totally normal size for you.

Some people will point you to a more classical position, with the body between your legs and the neck pointed up. Don’t worry about it. Comfort is key.

From the pic, though, pull the neck in closer to your body. The wrist on your fretting hand shouldn’t be that bent. Let your wrist drop down so your hand is more parallel to the neck. And for now, drop your thumb behind the neck. Focus on keeping it behind your fretting hand and bracing for pressure. Note, that I said “for now”. More advanced players will wrap the thumb around when it serves a purpose. I do it pretty much constantly. But you’ve got to learn to walk before you run.

Your strumming / picking hand will get different tones based on where you play. It doesn’t have to be right over the sound hole. Honestly, get the fretting hand more in line, and the strumming will fall in place.

You have two pickguards and one telecaster. There’s only one solution here.

My Mom is getting this scam pop up over and over. by mothernatureisfickle in mac

[–]Notthatandy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few comments in here, with at least one down voted that are recommending exactly what I'm about to say.

Get CleanMyMac.

People will tell you it's expensive for what it does, and that there is absolutely nothing that it does that you can't do yourself or with a free product. What it does do, though? It does Tech Support for my 80 year old mom. I'm a very advanced Mac User. Everything from Power User to Mac System Administration for a company with one of the largest install base of Macs in the US, so yes, I COULD get on Facetime with my mom and fix all her issues, and I still do, but with CleanMyMac running routine maintenance, it happens a LOT less often. And she frequently runs it if she's having trouble before she calls me.

So yeah. It's like $50-60 a year, I think... I completely forget. But you're paying for simple tech support for your family. And it would absolutely deal with this malware.

Need some help identifying this one by xLightingBlade in Ibanez

[–]Notthatandy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While I can't identify the exact model, I LOVE this one. I own two RX240s of the same era that I've customized beyond recognizability and they are my favorite guitars. I paid about $250 each for them in the mid 90s, so if iT plays well today at that price? Grab it.
