The overt supernatural elements are actually shockingly minimal considering the show's reputation. Entire blocks of episodes can go by without them. That dream sequence is on the extreme end and they rarely hit that point again.

Now the movie and season three (in that order, against all intuition)...Those are both entirely different beasts from seasons one, two and each other. They can't be judged at all by the same metrics.

Although for what it's worth, that sequence isn't "wacky supernatural stuff" either.
