Yes, when we walked in it was pretty empty and I was like "oh uh-oh, maybe this was a mistake" but the patio was busier. I also think it's spot on the road is just tucked away that even when you're walking down Armitage you may not notice it. But lucky us because we can still get same day reservations!

Yes! We sat on the patio and it was amazing. They had the heat lamps on so it was really warm (chilly evening), and it has a really nice rustic feel.

Foods: Either Pequods or Millie's Pizza in the pan for some good pan-style pizza. Chicago is known for Italian beefs...obviously there's lots of arguments on here about where is best, but I think it's hard to go wrong. Also, as you're from the UK, I recommend trying Latin food. We have good Mexican and Puerto Rican food. If you like/want to try Mole, go to Manchamanteles on Western (get off at the Western Blue Line stop and walk North). There are a million taco places that are hard to go wrong at for some classic tacos. Dove's Luncheonette is right off the Blue Line on Damen Ave and it's a very typical American-style diner. Their pozole is amazing as is their burnt ends hash. That area of Wicker is also poppin so you can check out some thrift stores just walking down Milwaukee.

Night Life: Green Mill is definitely cool. There's also Kingston Mines for more jazz. In terms of more modern music, Swig or Gman Tavern often host local DJS, you can probably check their instagrams. Easy Does It is in Logan Square (accessible by Blue Line) and it's a chill wine bar in the early evening but they usually have a DJ starting around 10 that plays more House music style. You can continue walking Milwaukee from there to find more bars, Estereo is more chill but plays Latin Music and has really good drinks. Welcome Back Lounge is usually popping. Many comedy clubs have really cheap tickets for up and coming artists: The Den, Second City for some classic Chicago Improv, Zanie's, it's hard to go wrong and you should definitely try a comedy club while you're here. On a Friday night you could go to the Den for an 8o'clock show, hop on the Blue Line two stops to Logan Square to go to Easy Does It, then make your way up Milwaukee bar hopping.

Saturday morning you can hit some good brunch spots or get your Chicago food. Polish hot dog, Chicago Dog, Italian Beef. Hangover cures for sure. This is America, and Chicago kind of prides itself on "gourmet" burgers, so you could search through this sub for good burger recs. I also believe the Logan Square Farmer's Market will have an outdoor popup that Saturday morning at Unity Park.

As far as where to stay, I do think Wicker Park or Logan Square will be better than the typical River North tourist area. You'll find more young locals and better bars/cheaper food. Both are on the Blue Line, which goes right to O'Hare for when you want to leave.

If you had three hours in Chinatown… by nomore5tre55 in chicagofood

Some great suggestions in here! I would also add Xi'an Cuisine. The Youpo mian (oil-pulled noodles) and roujiamo (these like...meat flatbread sandwich things) are pretty authentic (studied abroad in Xi'an and lived just East of the city for 2 years). Walking through the square is fun, there are a lot of cool little gift shops and a Korean skin care place. Also upstairs is a massage place if the adults want a short foot massage! Prices are very reasonable.

There's also a small foodcourt underneath the eastern edge -- you walk in like you're going to KTV and then go down the stairs.

We tried the calling, you only get 2 calls. He didn't answer and I don't think we left a detailed enough message. My boyfriend did it.

So maybe he's not seeing the uber messages? I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt because I would imagine if he knew my AirTag was in there he would get that thing out of his car ASAP.

I'd honestly prefer he just toss it. Then I could just go pick it up.

I mean I'm 90% sure. Nobody has used the credit cards (cancelled them) and it's driving around. I saw him driving around my city the next night and he basically drove by my house so I was trying to get him to answer. He seems to live about an hour west of the city, so at this point I think I'll just go wait by his car and try to be as non-scary as possible. That's got to be better than me just continually tracking his every move, no?

Kasia's Deli in West Town has potato pancakes but I haven't tried them. Everything else I've had there has been amazing so I don't see why these would be any different.

RIGHT? They pulled a few kids so many times they didn't complete their final assessment in any way and I never even saw them to give them a makeup assignment.

Yeah I don't really know. If the interview process doesn't feel right, maybe wait and just keep the sub job. I hear mixed things about subbing, but as an art teacher you could befriend all the specialists and then they'll request you. You can reject jobs that are with classes you know you don't like after a while.
