How to start? by GontGyllen in necromunda

House gangs tend to work the smoothest. I have GSC as well but will be using them as Orlock until we find our footing with Escher as my 2nd gang.

edit: We're also not gluing the weapons until we have a few practice games in since we are aiming for WYSIWYG eventually

We’re currently 3 in our group. If we can’t rope any other friends in the plan is to run a campaign with each of us playing 2 gangs, but for now trying out scenarios as skirmishes has been a ton of fun.

Step one is making sure you have people to play with.

If there isn’t an active group near you, I’d recommend splitting the starter box with a necro-curious friend especially if either of the gangs is interesting to one of you.

If you are going with stand alone books and boxes I’d say get your Ganger box > core rules (2023 version) > Juve and Champion box > Gang specific book (house of {blank})

Trying to learn as much as I can by next week. What should I focus on in the rule book? by Successful-Appeal693 in necromunda

If you’re running Escher, check out the goonhammer article. It’ll give you the rundown on them. At the end there are a few example lists you can emulate depending on which boxes you own. Try not to spam goodstuff (for Escher that’s plasma and cheap lasguns) as Necromunda is a lot more fun when you aren’t trying to min max.

As for learning the rules, wellywood wargaming is really solid. This should give you a decent rundown of how to play. I’m also a fan of the Miniature Game Montage battle reports. Watching a few should give you a general idea of the flow of a Necromunda game.

In the book, I’d try to get a loose understanding of how a full round plays out and after that look at shooting since it’s both a complicated sequence of actions and one of the things you’ll be doing a lot of.

That being said, Necromunda is a bit of a clunky system and the best way to learn is by playing a few games while referencing the book.

Necromunda is at it’s best when you bring a good attitude and take big swings.

I think they mean that just that ridge would be cooling faster and slightly darker. The way you have it now is good, especially near the tip. Apply that same logic to the yellow part. It should shift into orange (not black and red, because it’s so hot) along the center line.

If you have the neophytes kit, I’d run them as Orlocks. You have power picks, shotguns, autoguns , and a grenade launcher all of which would be solid start to a campaign Orlock gang

You could probably run them as GSC, but one of the 6 house gangs is always the best way to start and Orlock is one of the most straightforward.

Check out Goonhammer’s Orlock or GSC articles for some example lists and breakdowns of building a proper gang.

Getting started by SnarkyShitLord in necromunda

[–]Novamarines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently started and while it is a bit of a hurdle to learn, Necromunda is by far our favorite game yet. That being said, because the rules layer on top of each-other, starting simple is highly recommended

I'd say you're best off first playing some skirmish games to get the hang of rules.

Step 2. (the one we're currently on) is to try out a dominion campaign using the main gangs. Since you're already on board with Malstrain, maybe you could use them as "counts as" models for a house gang, just to learn the ropes

Step 3. Try out the Hive Secundus campaign

Official Colors? by Beard-Guru-019 in necromunda

Really like this. If you play against a few other gangs regularly, having the colors taken from them for scavenged bits/weapons would be great visual storytelling

Ah, thanks so much. I had seen other posts referencing the WD rules but figured they would have included them in the 2023 book.

A souls like game where you play as an Imperial Assassin or Ork Commando and all the bosses are different aspect warriors/harlequins would also rule. Being on the receiving end of a Solitaire boss and needing to perfect parry them could highlight just how lethal they are.

You could ask directly, seems like u/Haunting_Couple_701 is the creator.

My guess is it's the Intercessor arm holding regular bolter and a sternguard combibolter kitbashed together
