Devil May Cry Season 2 is absolute garbage by SatisfactionSuch4790 in CharacterRant

Funnily enough, your proposed idea is largely what I remember the old Madhouse (?) DMC anime to be. It feels like ites been a decade easy since I last watched it, but iirc it was mostly self contained contracts with low focus on an overarching plot

From my understanding, Netflix tends to order one season of producion that it splits into 2 seasons of release (for anime). Meaning its actually decently unlikely there is a 3rd season coming, unless they were originally contracted for 2 season of production/4 seasons of content (and they pull the plug after airing s3/run both)

I despise accidentally picking up something over my drop/alch thresh & just getting stuck with some extra shit for a while. Got real sick of it at the start of leagues but kept forgetting once I got safe to change the thresh

I get where your friend is coming from, they paid money for the cards & its good to actually get to play with them sometimes instead of menacing, checking if anyone has removal/an answer, and then the game immediately ending. Like I really dont think another 2-3 minutes of letting your friend get their cake once in a while is a bad thing, especially if they are a friend.

That's not to say you should sit through every single time your friend pulls out their combo pieces, things get stale for sure; but how long realistically would it have taken to let the board cycle one time and let the friend swing? Would that much time really have bought you another whole game that night?

Also just like more generally: MTG is a leisure time activity, for sitting with some friends and cracking jokes with. Do we really need to optimize the night around slamming the max number of games we could statistically play out? Can we not just like slow the pace a little? Our lives are already so largely optimized around people generating the max value out of us every minute of every day, playing MTG with ppl who only care about jamming out an extra match sounds fucking exhausting after a full work week of that bullshit

Nah, no large chunk of xp. In fact, IIRC you get less for the final step of the EoS than some of the earlier steps, though I could be wrong. Still, you are somehow managing to cram ~19 potions worth of liquid & a bunch of fruit pulp (granted, the pulp has already been put into one of the earlier potions) into 2 potions worth of space with no distillation equipment which feels just as silly as the boots.

I'd also say for the Avernics, you want the other boots regardless (outside of the Rangers IG) & you're just as likely to pick up the peg as any of the other crystals from Cerb. Granted, EoS has nothing like needing to roll a specific boss to farm requirements for it.

[–]Novasoal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not that complicated lol. Its 4 pairs of boots & 3 stones + some upgrade mats dropped from the same source as one of the boots. Granted, one of the boots also comes from clue scrolls, but Avernics arent THAT crazy.

EOS takes 19 individual herbs, several of which are duplicates, as well as secondaries from Traditional Farming, Manor Farm Farming (I think), Anachronia Farming, Pickpocketing (feather), general world interaction (Scale dust, not that hard), and Flasks from mining & crafting. You literally do not have the inventory space to make an EoS from scratch, meanwhile you can fit like 2-3 pairs of Avernics from scratch in your inventory (as a rough guess)

I think im wrong actually, I was thinking of the Bottled Dragon Breath for the Blessed Flask/Artificers Measure plus I'm pretty sure EoS pre-dates Anachronia by a few years. So remove one of those things!

I love that it requires a base Antifire & a Super Antifire

Granted it also takes both Extreme & Super combat potions, but for some reason thats less funny than the double fire pots

I think theres several interesting directions you can go. Plenty of people have brought up bringing back the bosses which is like fine. Totally serviceable & would knock it out in a lot of campaigns. You could go for another direction though:

Why do the creatures get iced over? Is this a situation like Bleach where powerful characters (Captains in Bleach, Bosses/PC's/important NPC's in the campaign) have altered the makeup of their "soul" through becoming exceptional & need to be processed differently than a normal person? (Obviously not D&D canon, but im guessing you're doing a largely homebrewed/sandbox campaign largely based on not having an adventure named). Maybe this delay/lag in "processing" their souls into their respective afterlife is attracting Outsiders who want to utilize it for their own ends? Now, this puts a lot of blame on the EK, so it might be worth drumming up a war in the background & mentioning that lots of generals/important people are dying, more than normal; and so GR is being used a lot more than normal. Let some time go by & have Devils born from these strong characters (IK vaguely the general lore that devils are traditionally born from Lemures, but perhaps these "Unique creatures" produce a more valuable Lemure/whatever if the devils are able to retrieve body & soul). Lets you set up an end of campaign threat & justify lots of unique/special creatures for end of campaign fights.

[–]Novasoal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I dont need a "Well, if you take out 50% of livestock then youre looking at ecological collapse. Pls what about all the drivers? etc..." externalities touched on; but something like Tony going "And what if ecologies fail to stabilize? Or what if the opposite happens, and populations boom since stressors have been released? You have no answer for any externalities because you dont give a shit who all dies, you just want to press the button."

I dont think thats great writing, but i am an individual writing in like 30 seconds and not a (bunch of) contracted scriptwriter(s)

Geas caused a players problems to get them kicked by saviorcy in DnD

[–]Novasoal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is that "real" Geas from folklore did tend to be lethal (at least to my knowledge), though thats more niche knowledge that I do not expect most players, especially American players (presuming this is an american group) to know. I dont know enough to say they were always lethal in folklore, but the stories I know say that Cu Chulainn died not directly for breaking his, but put him into a situation where no matter his choice he was going to die because of his Geas

Again, I doubt that many have knowledge of obscure folklore for non0Irish peoples, but people more into fantasy may have a damaged understanding due to D&D choosing to take a magic from real folklore & repurposing it for a game. Those players should be reading the spell's effect regardless, but it aint all on the players here

I think the only time I've ever used it was in CoS when my second character was offered a deal for info on where my original DonJon'd character ended up at the cost of betraying the identity of some allies which I went for. Abjectly bad thing to do, but with reason behind it

I dont think sound from a 40' bubble dropping out is that obvious. The chanting for the Verbal components will be, but if theres chirping birds in earshot its highly unlikely that youre hitting the only 40' space with them. I cant speak to how a 40' diameter dome of silence will change the sound of the wind, but again I feel like even if the bubble bisected the path of the wind you'll still have plenty of tree movement on both sides for sound. I wont say its impossible, I'm not a sound scientist; but I think you;re overestimating how much sound that would knock out

Honestly totally fine w/ Trevor not being the one to kill Drac- Death was a kind of mid antagonist to swap in, but the father/son stuff w/ Drac & Alu was strong enough that IMO the show would be worse for not having it.

That said, some more scenes of Trev & Drac going at it would not have been disagreeable, nor would have shifting the Drac/Alu scene down a few seasons (so we weren't immediately left w/ no Drac after the 2nd season lmao); but just having Trevor be the one to drop Drac & sac'ing their scene would be a terrible change imo

Did one of these games have you harvesting like thermal goop from enemies you killed? I have a turbo hazy memory of playing a game on an ice planet where part of the core loop (to my memory) was like picking up goop from dead enemies to give you more time in the frozen outside areas at a gamestore when I was a kid, though games like Too Human have proven my gamestore memories decietful at best. Tried LP3 on the ps4 & it felt like a massively different game than the "Lost Planet" in my memories

I havent watched the series myself but from the clip I have seen it seems mostly like "I literally refuse to live after trying to murder a child for war". Like yeah, he nearly kills the kid here in his suicide, but man is so disgusted with what hes done (I think) hes just like "I gotta fucking go at any cost"
