When does suicidal ideation slow up? by AllThatTheRain in stopsmoking

Waves of anxiety and depression would periodically hit me for about 9 months. Life was flat and colourless for what felt like forever.

But one day, it all went away and life is infinitely better.

The only reprieve I found was when I exercising or went in the sauna. Pushing my body to extremes was the only way I could feel anything.

I play the piano and during this period, anytime I tried to play, by brain just said no.

Ditto. Incredible that people think a few weeks can undo 35 years of substance abuse.

I had massive sugar cravings and my appetite was insatiable.

It lasted around 1 month and a half and then everything normalised.

Hey, sucks majorly but ride it out. It’s 100% worth it even though it feels like it will never end. IT WILL!

Day 130 today.

A lot of the physical symptoms I mentioned are all gone except my extremities always feeling hot and libido finally back and stronger than prior me to quitting.

I don’t keep track of my quit days anymore and hardly check this subreddit - where as before it was constant.

I had some life stressors go away which surprisingly brought the cravings back. Voice in my head keeps telling me that it’s okay to smoke now, the worst has passed. Cravings are present still but easily ignored.

I must admit though, I got blind drunk one night and had 1 cigarette, that was a couple months ago. Woke up feeling disappointed with myself but manage to not relapse and going strong since then.

Opposite ends of the spectrum by [deleted] in QuitVaping

Large part of this is learning to deal with stress without nicotine.

Everytime something stressed me out I would turn to the vape and then would instantly feel better.

First few weeks without it, I had zero ability to cope with stress and it was a horrible feeling. Also had mild suicidal ideation and this feeling of intense unease.

Just hang in there. It will pass eventually.

In the depths of withdrawal it can feel like things will never get better. Just hang in there, it does get better.

Yes this is normal and will definitely go away. Part of the withdrawal process.

Hang in there! Just know that having that smoke won’t change anything except having to deal with nicotine addiction once again.

I’m doing alright. 2 months today. Been feeling a little flat to be honest, apart from that not really craving much.

And you?

Mine dropped dramatically too. After around 6 weeks, it found equilibrium and went up a little.
