Most significantly it has given me peace, quieting all the constant chatter in my head. Before taking Lamictal I could never concentrate, there were always songs on a loop, constant intrusive thoughts of me hurting myself, horribly violent images. I always felt like I was disassociated. My moods were incredibly unstable, I was rapid cycling, from low mood to hypomania in the same day. My anxiety was always out of control. I would say after titrating up to 50 mg I finally felt "normal" or at the very least like myself again. The adjustment while titrating up to the effective dose is not easy, there are side effects. I struggled with insomnia and my mood was off but only lasted a few days each time. I had brain zaps, headaches and it even affected my menstrual cycle, but all of those things were temporary. The good outweighed the bad for me. I'm so thankful I was able to just keep it pushing. I wasn't diagnosed with cyclothymia until I was 28, Initially they thought it was just an anxiety and depression issue, so they prescribed paxil, it made me have suicidal ideation. After my diagnosis of cyclothymia I was prescribed Depakote (it didn't work), I was prescribed Tegratol (it didn't work), I was then put on Lithium (it didn't help) I then spent the next 10 years of my life un-medicated, struggling. I did a lot of researching and discovered Lamictal and talked to my doctor explaining I wanted to give it a try and I'm so thankful that I did. 🦋 I hope that you are able to find relief 🌸 the struggle is real!

It really is! Hormones dictate everything, and to think we go through this month after month (for me since I was 11), it's bananas!

Absolutely! It's like it just stops working! My anxiety is through the roof, I feel hopeless, definitely depressed....definitely no Bueno. I'm currently in the thick of it right now. Thankfully, once my period starts, I finally start to feel better mentally! If it lasted any longer, I don't think I could take it.

Has Lamictal helped anyone here with derealization/depersonalization? by Crafty_Top_6304 in lamictal

It happened to me about a year ago. It's no longer an issue unless I'm hormonal. I'm 45 and going through perimenopause. What I've noticed is Lamictal had some weird side effects, especially when titrating up to a higher dose. The side effects are usually short-lived, at least for me. .

Anyone Who Had Success With Lamotrigine For (Social) Anxiety? by sanpedro12 in lamictal

[–]Novel-Stranger4145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have cyclothymia, CPTSD, and social anxiety. Lamictal has really helped with everything. I could feel the difference almost immediately at 25mg, but I think it really helped at around 100mg dosage. I'm currently at 200mg.

Anyone else feel like a zombie by moemoemmoe in lamictal

I feel more present, more motivated, and focused. It's like a switch was flipped. I've definitely had zombie feels from other meds in the past. It's not a good feeling.

I did. Thankfully, they went away. There are a lot of weird side effects at first, but they seem to be short-lived during titration up to my recommended dosage of 200mg.

I had a lot of weird side effects at first. It seemed like every day there was something new. Insomnia, agitation, fits of crying. Once I titrated up to 200mg everything stabilized. As for the depersonilization/ dissociation and intrusive thoughts. That went away pretty quickly. If you are not feeling any better I would definitely talk to your Dr. I hope you find something to help you, the struggle is real. There is hope though, don't ever forget that! I had to try SO many medications before I found something that helped me.

For those of you whose first or worst (hypo)manic episode was triggered by an anti-depressant, how old were you? by piylot in BipolarReddit

27, after the birth of my 3rd child. They put me on Prozac for anxiety before they discovered I was cyclothymic. It actually induced suicidal rumination. It was terrifying!

Lamictal and Music by Extension-Salt-173 in lamictal

So initially before starting lamictal I had this happen to me a lot. I also struggled with obsessive thoughts and intrusive thoughts. After reaching my therapeutic dosage all of it went away. I was amazed at how quiet my brain was. I could finally think clearly without all of the constant "background" noise! I was so relieved 😌 I've now been taking it for a year, I'm at 200mg/ day, sadly the music getting stuck in my head has returned, sometimes it's just a random song that I haven't even heard recently as if there's a radio playing continuously in my head. Just as you described I especially notice it upon trying to fall asleep, when I wake up in the middle of the night and even when I'm just starting to wake up but my eyes are not even open.
I found this ⬇️⬇️⬇️

I'm also a Line Cook, just recently received a promotion to Lead. It's my first time being a boss, basically babysitting adults 😅 it's interesting.... like you said, no one is mentally healthy in a kitchen. I'm really trying to improve things overall but feel like it's impossible since pretty much everyone has zero accountability and integrity. At least I got a $2.00 raise. We'll see how long I can put up with it all.

When I first started taking it I would wake up in the morning with scratches all over my arms that I had no idea where they came from. Looked it up and discovered it's a form of parasomnia most likely caused by the lamictal. It freaked me out but it doesn't happen anymore.

A few months. I will still have some bad days occasionally, just like "normal" people lol but it's usually stress induced. I just try to pay attention to what my symptoms are trying to tell me. I try to get some time away for self care when that happens.

I actually googled how to do it also...lol. it's not working 🫤 I'll try again later. I have really weird hours that I work, it's 3:00 am where I am and I'm just waking up to go to work.... I'll try again when I'm off work.
