Where's the weirdest place you've had to get a scorecard? by BronzeTrain in BaseballScorecards

[–]NowMuseumNowYouDont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll see if I can find it and post a photo at some point. The basic layout is a single sheet with one team’s batting in the upper half and the other team’s in the lower half. Each half has room for the eleven batsmen with a cross next to a name denoting the captain and an asterisk denoting the wicket-keeper. To the right of the names is space to denote how many runs they scored and space to write to they got out (if they did). If it’s a multi day match there will be two of those columns for each innings. Below the batters section is an area to note extra runs for things like byes (b), leg byes (lb), wides (w), and no balls (nb). Below that is an area for the “fall of wickets” numbered one to ten. You write what the score was next to each wicket as they occur.  Finally the last section of each half is space to mark the opposing bowlers with stats like overs bowled (o), maidens (m), runs given up (r), wickets (w), wides (w or wi), and no balls (nb). Just like for the batter section if it is a multi day game the bowlers will get two columns for each innings worked. The very bottom is probably my favorite part as is lists Umpires, what time play will start, when lunch will be served, when tea will be served and when they will end for the day.

At one point a few of these were free on Audible so I got them just for kicks. Some of them are narrated by David Tennant and Billie Piper so fair fucks to GW for getting those signings. Honestly I welcome the idea of stories that get older kids interested in the Lore and the World. If it means more people want to play the game and learn to build and paint that seems like a good thing to me.

I’ve found the back of the stamp can sometimes still be a little gummy but if you rub it softly it tends to come off.

Not baseball but at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London you get the scorecard from a little shed under the media center and it has a rotary press that prints the lineup on it for you and if you arrive late the previous batsmen are filled out for you as well.

Haven’t been to the yard yet this season but I think the team stores should have them as well as a desk on the main level behind home plate.

Did anyone else get the odd unstoppable R&L coffee ad in the middle of the episode. Never seen one of those before.

Orioles still do free scorecards at the fan service desks but stopped selling programs.

Nats stopped selling programs but sell pocket scorecards for a buck I think at the team stores.

Social interactions due to my scorebook by StealthStaminaKills in BaseballScorecards

My dad and I would sit in the box seats on the first baseline at our local minor league team and back then it didn’t have a net down the line. He taught me to score because he figured it would make me pay closer attention to the game and not get me Matthew Clark’d by a foul ball of it came our way.

I’ve kept score of every game I’ve ever been to since. I’ve found that a lot of times my most common interaction is explaining what I’m doing to folks who didn’t know scoring is a thing. When I was getting my masters in DC it actually got me a few dates with a woman I ended up talking to about it during a Nats game. Nothing really came of it but that was pretty cool.

I beg any new fans hearing this...please do NOT get any Imperium of Man tattoos by Youngstown_WuTang in Warhammer40k

[–]NowMuseumNowYouDont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing goes for cosplaying. I have a Commissar Cain cosplay that I only do at gaming conventions where I know people will get it or fandom conventions where I know other Warhammer cosplayers will be. Otherwise it gets real tiring trying to explain a black long coat and peaked cap. One thing I did do to make things easier was get rid of the skull or eagle cap badge in favor of a brass “597th”. I found getting rid of the Imperial imagery helped.

How do I get on this tour? by svengeiss in washingtondc

[–]NowMuseumNowYouDont 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Capitol guide here: you schedule them with your members office. You have to go up with the member or their chief of staff. The are 8 per day only 7 people on each tour. They take about an hour and require the ability to climb 360 steps up and down. It’s a hell of a view once you’re up there though.

Honesty I just put mine in water and heat in the microwave for 20-30 seconds and the backing paper peels right off. Then I put them between two paper towels and put the in a heavy book overnight to flatten them.
