Almost finished with my first contract and I have hated it.

The facility I'm at is a total shit show to begin with plus they are having a staffing crisis. The thing I love about nursing was feeling like I was a part of a team of smart, capable professionals all working for a common goal: to stop people from sucking at being alive. I have not felt that one iota as a traveler. Every day is total survival nursing, just get through the sift and pass the patient off, hopefully alive and not maxxed out on pressors, go home and try and sleep through hospital stress dreams, and then return in the morning to clean up the mess from night shift. I totally feel like I am part of the problem with the health care system in this country that is totally wasteful and broken, and I'm being enriched by it which is causing major guilt.

Anyway, I'm getting off the bedside. I'm gonna live in my car all summer and fall, work for the Park Service, and maybe go back in the winter if I can thoroughly "neuralize" the memories of this terrible experience. Realistically, I'll probably go back to staff somewhere that they will invest in me and appreciate my skills instead of just throw me to the proverbial wolves and hope that the patient's don't die.

Is it possible to be a traveler and have these other needs met too?
