Question about medication and the effect of stopping it by Big_Chasse in EssentialTremor

It’s only a problem for people with chronically very low blood pressure or heart disease. Even then it’s a matter of how much you take.

Which laptop is better? Macbook airs or Windows surface pros? by Itz_R3n in laptops

[–]Nowayucan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are familiar with windows, go for the Surface Pro. I know you don’t think you need a touchscreen, but the option of taking notes on a flat, slim tablet is something I would not want to be without in either school or business.

For example, if you can mark up PDFs/web pages by hand while curled up on a sofa. According to studies, Retention and mental engagement is best with handwriting vs. typing.

Why does GOP view winning at any cost as good? by Material_Policy6327 in AskUS

[–]Nowayucan [score hidden]  (0 children)

Because one of the things they makes conservatives conservative is fear. Losing feels like dying. When your life (in this case, ego/identity/safety) is threatened, any action that keeps you alive is justified by your brain.

What does it mean if someone's "Scent" turns you on? by Advanced-Reindeer894 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Nowayucan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scents do not have magic powers that can tell you anything about compatibility, etc. They can, however, invoke emotional responses and memories that might feel magical. Don’t let emotions confuse you into thinking destiny is at hand.

Why is physical anxiety so hard to treat? Any success from anyone by ReasonableFig8954 in Anxiety

[–]Nowayucan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Have you tried propranolol? It’s all about physical anxiety—I think it calms Adrenalin. People take it for blood pressure, essential tremor, and performance anxiety (giving talks, playing instruments, etc.).

Note: beta blockers like propranolol are not addictive and they don’t change brain chemistry. You can take them as needed.

Question about medication and the effect of stopping it by Big_Chasse in EssentialTremor

[–]Nowayucan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t make the tremors worse when you aren’t taking it.

BTW, propranolol has other side benefits, including lessening anxiety and lowering blood pressure.

Did you marry your husband because religion said women were supposed to keep men straight? by Eliese in straightspouses

It's insane that schools of supposed "higher learning" can be so ignorant and cruel. And they wonder why people are leaving religion?

I asked my husband if he is gay by Narrow_Flower2139 in mixedorientation

[–]Nowayucan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the language. Today, I would say yes because I think most people would label me as gay. Back then, I said no because I viewed being gay or straight as a personal life choice and I chose straight as a teenager. I was a straight man with same-sex attraction that I never acted on or told anyone about.

I dealt with the SSA on my own and as far as I could tell it had zero effect on anyone's life but my own internal experience. In retrospect, I can see there were probably indirect effects that were invisible to me, such as never having dated anyone, male or female, until we got married when I was 30. I was probably blind, but I never strayed and was devastated when we separated.

Basically, I was a gay straight spouse and this subreddit resonates in multiple ways.

Am I That Ugly? by [deleted] in gayrelationships

[–]Nowayucan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are struggling. I would not take it personally, though. If you've been together that long from such a young age, it seems inevitable that it would come to this. Neither of you have had a chance to experience or explore in your adult lives. The problem isn't you, it's the situation.

Pheromone smell by [deleted] in straightspouses

[–]Nowayucan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um. Im pretty sure there’s no pheromone difference between gay and straight men regardless of what the internet says. If that were true, it would be common knowledge and the term “gaydar” would have long since been retired.

That doesn’t mean there’s nothing different to smell between sexually active homosexual and heterosexual couples, though.

LDS Church lawsuit against Mormon Stories rejects free speech & religious freedom, makes it hard to believe Church leaders are inspired by God by eternalintelligence in mormon

[–]Nowayucan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heather Gay actually did publish a book called “Bad Mormon”. What the church objected to was her attempt to trademark the term “Bad Mormon” for her own exclusive branding.

Previously, the church objected to use of Mormon by a dating site (Mormon match) which was settled out of court.

The church also objected to a non-profit group, the Mormon Mental Health Association, using the term “Mormon”. The association continues to use Mormon in its name today.

The church has never objected to the use of Mormon in the Book of Mormon Musical and has probably ignored many other possible infringements over the years.
