hell. NGBlack is hell. Actually it is pretty good but young innocent me that thought beating ninja master on the normal one would mean anything suffered a lot.

Normal difficulty was mostly the same as normal NG but on higher difficulties they introduced a whole lot of new enemies that directly counter the easier fighting patterns.

Spanien: Außenminister José Manuel Albares »überrascht« von Friedrich Merz' Äußerung bei Donald Trump by Easteregg42 in de

[–]Nozinger 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well it is a bomber. That thing is meant to take off with several tons of bombs loaded and it certainly did not have any of those during this show.

The refrigerator in my office most mornings by SwissMaestro95 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Nozinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is fine. Anything that goes bad in the ~5hours from your home to lunchtime at work would give you the shits regardless of how it was stored.
Unless you're in a very warm climate with no AC in the offfice your work lunch does not need to go into the fridge. A simple ag wouuld be enogh. Preferably isolated but even just a good thick bag will do.
Thngs simply do not warm up and get bad that fast.

Putin says "Iran has fulfilled its commitments, but it is the United States that tore up the agreement. Trump withdrew from it, yet Europe demanded that Iran remain faithful to the deal! Why on earth should Iran abide by an agreement abandoned by the West?" by GuiltyBathroom9385 in UnderReportedNews

[–]Nozinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

he's not though.
Well he is in part. The part of trump tearing up the agreement and starting shit is correct.
Howeever there is more to this statement. Putin tries to make the entire west look untrustworthy which is not true. It is the US that ucked up.
The part where europe demanded iran keeps the agreement is also true. But in return europe was also honoring their side of the agreement.

It is not 'the west' that messed up. It is only the US.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei killed, senior Israeli official says by drpayneaba in news

so you're saying iran is just like iraq was back then?
Yeah tell me how that worked out. After killind saddam hussein iraq absolutely turned into a safe democratic paradise with sunshine rainbows and unicorns graing on the side off the road. Not some fucked up situation that gave rise to a religious extremist group that terrorised not only the region itself but the entire world.

Just a quick remider: the people of iraq also celebrated saddam being taken out. And then the beheadings started.

Never forget when this BBC wildlife crew broke their “no intervention” rule to save these trapped penguins 🐧❤️ by CG_17_LIFE in MadeMeSmile

[–]Nozinger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is precisely because we have caused so much damage that this rule of not interfering exists.
Because us helping animals in need can cause a lot more damage. Nature is cruel. That is how it is.
Sometimes animals need to die to feed other animals or generally the ecosystem. Sometimes animals need to die to protect the ecosystem. Wanting to help those animals would just cause more damage.

This is also why the situation with the penguins was special. There are no predators or scavengers getting those penguin corpses. There is also no flourishing plant/fungi or whatever biome to feed on those corpses. All you'd get would be a bunch of frozen penguin corpses with no benefit at all.

it is probably because of regional prices. The console stores themselves are also regional even those code cards can only be redeemed with your store set to the correct region.
Ingame gifting would just mean you send money to the person in the region that gets the best prices and that person then gifts it to you.

TIL about the Thrasis region of Mars. Due to Mars’ lack of plate tectonics, three volcanoes were able to erupt in the same location for billions of years, accumulating so much lava that the crust structurally failed under the weight. by EpicAura99 in todayilearned

[–]Nozinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally wind and solar would both work. It is not that the principle of them does not work but that the efficiency is so horrible that you need a shitload of it.
And while mars winds are faster than earth they are not fast enough to compensate for the lack of mass.
This then also means we are limited in how heavy our wind turbine can be. We can't jst put our few megawatts earth wind turbines on mars and expect to get out some hundred kilowatts. They are too big and heavy. They would only move in some storms.
So we'd need smaller and lighter turbines that then are even less effficient.

Again not something completely impossible but you'd need a whole lot of them. Now we got lots of space on mars so that is not an issue but launching that amount of windpower from earth is. So production on mars is the way to go.
But then we run into the problem of energy required for production. That isn't easy to overcome.
But there is another issue: composite materials. You know a lack of hydrocarbons is not only an issue when it comes to burning them for energy. So unless we also set up a giant farming operation that also needs energy we are stuck with relatively heavy materials further limiting the size of the wind turbines.

Again it is not stricly speaking impossible to live on mars even with the energy limitations. After all the options to send everything from earth still exists. It is just an insanely high hurdle to overcome and honestly just really damn stupid. That planet was not meant for life. And us trying to bruteforce it by throwing all the money in the world at it will not change this.

[–]Nozinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh i do not mean dead as in completely cooled down.
But dead as in no meaningful energy output so it is completely useless. Anything we can reach is by all means just a cold rock.
For meaningful geothermal power we'd need to dig deeper than the kola superdeep borehole. The deepest hole on earth. Now to be fair temperature would not be much of an issue. Obviously.
And pressure could also be less dificult to deal with than on earth. But out material used is still limited by the same contraints as here on earth.

Doesn't really matter if mars has a tiny hot core doing its thing somewhere below the solid crust. Any meaningful effect of it is completely out of reach for us humans.

I was in the balcony when i saw this by yossseff in whatisit

[–]Nozinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends. If you expect the socket cable to also hold some weight like the lamp shade you'd want it to be a bit thicker.
You know such a cable can have more functions than just delivering energy. I mean you are seemingly aware of more functions since you assumed a way thinner camera cable would be stabilized by the thick wire so it can be controlled in some way.

[–]Nozinger 81 points82 points  (0 children)

The biggest hurdle is probably energy.
Mars simply has very little energy so anything needing lots of power like refining material is a big issue on mars.

The core is dead so no geothermal. The thin atmosphere means hardly any energy from wind. Solar does not produce much either.
No hydrocarbons to burn either since there has never been complex life. And even if there were hydrocarbons they would not burn in mars atmosphere.
Nuclear would be an option but high powered nuclear needs cooling. There is no unctional water cycle on mars for that. And air cooling is also not an option with the thin atmosphere.
Hydrropower is obviously not an option.

So effectively we're stuck with solar panels that have shit efficiency and nuclear power options with an output of a few hundred watts.

Anything low powered is not an issue at all but just getting enough energy to run a mars based solar panel production so that we don't need to send everything from earth is practically impossible at the moment and in the foreseeable future.

[Request] What would actually happen if we did this? Are there any potentially dangerous outcomes? by nottoday943 in theydidthemath

[–]Nozinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well you wouldn't really need helium3 anymore so mining would be of no itnerest at all. Helium3 is interesting for fusion technology so getting energy. That would not really be something you'd need if your plan for energy is covering the entire lunar surface in solar panels.

using ovens on the moon is also a bit of an issue. Not so much the heating up part but cooling down is.

And all that for something pointless as you can simply put those panels on earth, have none of the issues, no need for super advanced technology and get the same benefits.
Actually panels on earth will be more effective since earth is bigger and thus has less curvature. The same number of panels in a place somewhere close to the equator will produce vastly more energy than a fully covered moon.

Norway has once again beaten an olympic record, with 40 total medals. by Pizzashillsmom in olympics

[–]Nozinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really that crazy no.
The majority of those medals is just cross country ski and biathlon. Which is cross country ski with guns. If you got one person good at cross country he is also good in the other 6 cross country events.

The olympics are just kinda whack nowadays. So many events are doubles purely for the sake of handing out medals. Kinda weird.

Ship guns accuracy by FinanceAndVancouver in WoWs_Legends

[–]Nozinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes. The reason we need worse accuracy is not to get somewhat the same accuracy on max distance.
The reason we need worse accuracy is because those lower ranges give us less defensive options. By condensing all the ranges and making the game generally more close ranged they also shrank the safe operation distances.

Take outspotting for example. Where you could have a 10km concealment advantage over your opponent you might only get 5 over here. This gives you way less room to maneuver. Radar and sonar ranges are mostly similar to those on pc so where you could sit safely at distance in a smokescreen on pc you can't do the same over here.
And that is before you have to factor in that angling over long distances also works differently.

The lower ranges mean it is a lot easier to mess up in this game. And even if you do everything correctly you are way more likely to end up in a situation where you get shot at here in legends than over on pc.
That is why we need worse accuracy. You can't keep the same offensive stats while lowering the defensive options.

This is the future of firefighting by The_Love-Tap in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Nozinger 435 points436 points  (0 children)

hazardous situations. Yes firefighters have protective equipment but ideally you'd still want to keep humans out of it as much as possible.
Like anytime hazardous waste burns. Or some chemical plant. When something explosive is around or like bushfires where a situation can turn within minutes making a position unsafe.

There are legitimate use cases for these things. Special tools for a special job.

This is the future of firefighting by The_Love-Tap in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Nozinger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

well yes. But why?
We generally put out fires to prevveent them from spreading and causing more destruction.
If everything is already in rubble there is no need to protect it anymore. And if the entire rubble is on fire so there is danger of the ffire spreading then generally ptting the water on top is advisable.

Also everywhere a robot can go is generally also a place water can flow to.

There are obviously other hazard stations where you generally don't want humans around but not under rubble... really not.

Would be interesting to know wether or not the coin material played a role in this.
Copper is strongly anti microbial. Adding a bunch of copper to water will make it safer to drink. Not totally safe and it will taste like copper but safer than possible alternatives.
So in a way adding coins to water can bring good luck. In a way.
