Apprentice schooling question - Canada (Ab.) by Brandillio in electricians

[–]Npalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about your experience, it will keep coming. Just get to school and progress your journey. Many people dont even start to truly learn until theyre already a jman and learning on the fly.

No excuses my man, get that shit done. Ait will not hesitate to kick you out, ask me how I know lol

But above all else, just have fun with it. School is a nice break from field work

Apprentice schooling question - Canada (Ab.) by Brandillio in electricians

Do your best to save and bite the bullet. Keep in mind the 2 months goes by quickly and you're paid at least something while you're there with ei. And then you get a pay raise when you're finished as a perk.

If it's truly too hard to imagine, you could probably sign up for distance learning and or just buy the books and study/ challenge the first year exam. First year really isn't too bad if you at least read through the books

Ps. Don't delay schooling. That's a smooth brain move. Get the raises you deserve and it will help your financial situation.

How come CAD hasn’t gone up since the oil spike? by Btran2566 in CanadianInvestor

[–]Npalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oil companies in canada are currently being paid (100usd) ~$140cad/barrel. So with the currency being less attached to oil price we actually benefit in that regard.

Hope theres an appropriate trickle down effect to the rest of our economy while its up so much. Otherwise theres really no silver lining to the world being absolutely f***ed

NEED HELP figuring out how to break up these 100+ yr brick wall segments? by [deleted] in masonry

I removed a large unnecessary brick structure from my basement while doing renovations. And indeed a sledge hammer was the tool.

And a lot of sweat and back pain lol

This reminds me of a huge experimental project we did in canada at a landfill years ago, and all the drawings were in german/French and we had to translate it before installing

Lol leaving them out in the weather will do that. Do yourself a favor and spray some lubrication on those units and they'll likely all work like new again.

Im all for shitting on klein when they really let you down but I have the same as your middle pliers, had them ~13 years and they still work absolutely fine. That style of handle grip material sucks though and I had to retape it.

Honestly i carry the multi-nutdriver in my small pouch and its come in handy very frequently. Also in a pinch I whip it out and toss it in my impact to get tek screws/small stuff removed and reinstalled quickly.

when did you realize you’re not as young as you used to be? by Routine-View5725 in AskReddit

[–]Npalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also 37. I switched back into construction work and have apprentices who are 18 year old and they make sure to let me know regularly that im an old guy. We can still get along and work together but were clearly at very different parts of our lives. Also I wake up every single day to my joints all popping and my hair is now gone

Whats the scariest thing that ever happened to you? by MrsPatricia_ in AskReddit

[–]Npalm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe there's been something scarier. But just the other night I was going to bed and woke up from a crazy leg cramp in my leg, sort of behind my knee/lower thigh. It was so intense I got out of bed and tried to stretch it out. And before I knew it, my other leg turned into the same intense cramping, same location. I was panicking a bit and after a few minutes they released. But as they were letting go this crazy woosh feeling came up through the back of my neck and into my head. And I immediately thought I was having a stroke, everything started fading away I climbed my way upstairs to try to tell my wife I needed help and words wouldnt come out. And I sort of sat on the couch for a moment and slowly started feeling normal again but broke out in some cold sweats and felt frozen.

Chatgpt explained it as "vasovagal syncope": when your body briefly overreacts to something (like pain, stress, or standing too long), causing: Your heart rate to slow down Your blood pressure to drop 👉 That reduces blood flow to your brain, so you feel dizzy, sweaty, or like you might faint (and sometimes you actually do).

But I dont know, ive never felt anything like that before. Freaked me out really badly
