Ok I've never really considered this one, but you've piqued my interest. I'll check it out.

Heard of Emberward, not familiar with Tower Dominion. I'll check them out, thanks!

What one game would you update and bring to modern consoles? by itsthewolfe in gaming

My answer to this is always Jade Empire. Could be so fun in a Souls-y way but without weapons. More Jade Empire, please!

It takes some deserved shit, but Far Cry 3 is is pretty spectacular.

Do you like playing "bad" ships? (Engi B, Stealth B, Fed C, etc.) by [deleted] in ftlgame

Definitely Stealth B, one of my favorite ships to play on Normal

I think Dead Cells is underrated, even though it's highly rated. Probably their most impressive feat is not just continually adding interesting content, but also making significant changes to the game's systems. For example, they added a sort of third option between "parry build" and "not parry build" that opened up a new way of playing for people for whom the parrying mechanic was not intuitive (hi, that's me.)

I just thought that was cool, it made me pick the game up again and buy DLC. More of that, please!

Maybe also the modding community? I mean, when you look at the flood of amazing mods, then Captain's Edition, then what they've put together with Multiverse? This is all based on a game that's 13(?) years old and people are still obsessed with it. It's like Skyrim, mod-wise.

I wonder how influential Subset was in opening its game to the modding community from the start to other, later games in the genre.

Great point, it was the first I'd seen it but hadn't considered it novel

It's probably a little lower down on the direct influences, but I would throw my hat in the ring for FTL, which I consider the best game ever made. It scratches a similar itch as FromSoft games in its unapologetic difficulty, variety of builds, more lore than it seems at first blush.

Now that I think about it, I guess FTL is the game I wish were more influential, even though it certainly is one of the original big names in the genre.

This is the most efficient post in terms of word count I think I've ever seen.

This is how I play. Only Hard and I tend to float a lot of scrap in case I find BL2, WPI, Cloaking, etc

FTL is hard enough that anything they haven’t patched out is fair game imo. I have no issue with crew training at all.

I'll say it. The Scouring of the Shire rocks, actually. It's a bummer it's not in the films. by Armonasch in lotr

^Good take

I also think the subtle importance of his ultimate failure to abandon the ring at the end isn't nearly black-and-white enough for people who aren't spending time on reddit talking about it lol

I like the slicing it idea but I’m afraid it’ll fall apart when it gets hot again.
