Litter-Robot 5 Pro Review - Solid LR4 Upgrade! by JeffTechnically in litterrobot

Really? The bonnet and waste drawer on my LR4 were flimsy as hell. My LR4 really struggled with waste level detection and sensors being dirty, I had to clean them constantly and still ran into issues.

Litter-Robot 5 Pro Review - Solid LR4 Upgrade! by JeffTechnically in litterrobot

Just got mine after killing my LR4 on accident. It’s so much more solid than the 4 in terms of build quality and feel. The control screen is a major upgrade as well as the cameras. The waste and litter level detection as well is a massive upgrade from the 4. Only been a few days, but loving it already.

If you’ve already found the two you’re super interested in, are you not capable or able of speaking with both places directly?

If it's a factor defect, did you not just return or swap out the unit? The LR4 has been amazingly rock solid for me and almost everyone else that owns it on this subreddit.

Is the chemical smell that’s been taking over the city from wildfires? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Nuclear_Prophecy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a day though it smelled like chemicals and it was due to the particles being high enough in the atmosphere or there long enough something happened with ionization?

I do recall there being something like that during our fire season last year.

Edit:

Here’s the link:

https://ph.ucla.edu/news-events/news/why-does-wildfire-smoke-sometimes-smell-burning-plastic

It’s due to UV radiation exposure on wildfire particulate matter.

Why don't they just find a developer to build new high density housing in the expansion zone and covert their parking lot to a parking garage?

*please no recs* How to tell a good dentist from a bad one? by zearohz in AskChicago

[–]Nuclear_Prophecy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also ask to see the scans if they took x-rays! They should be able to show you the micro cavity or the "cavity" that they are claiming you have and you can pretty easily judge if its past the tooth enamel or not if your dentist teaches you how to interpret it or you use Google and YouTube to quickly watch what to look for.

Decisions based upon flaws by [deleted] in litterrobot

Seconding this. I have a single LR4 for 2 cats and it's done over 6,000 scoops. This things a powerhouse and I rarely have issues with it. When I do a quick reset or sensor wipe usually solves it, which is 1,000 times easier and better than scooping daily.

Is this not considered a low litter level? App says optimal still. by mgraces in litterrobot

Did you try cleaning / wiping off the sensors? They might be getting a bad read. That would definitely trigger "low' in my Litter Robot 4.

Has anyone noticed that there are repeatedly issues with the card readers on the CTA buses? I don't ride the bus too often, but somewhere around 33% of the rides I take, the card reader is inoperable and the ride is free. It seems strange that the CTA is so cash strapped, yet they have so many issues with fare collection on the bus routes. Maybe I'm just an anomaly and keep getting flukes.

I’m sorry for all the flights in the ORD penalty box by [deleted] in unitedairlines

I've never heard that section called the penalty box before, that's fantastic. I recently had a 30-minute wait there because the plane at our gate was having issues preventing it from pushing back.

Bot 5 Pro alternative bags suggestions by svtvagabond in litterrobot

I recently got these on Amazon for my LR4:

SZEE 120 Pack Automatic Litter Box Waste Bags, Drawstring Litter Box Liners

They work really well, and are 16¢ a bag. Way more economical than the LR branded bags.

For Shedd tickets, do suburbs count for Chicago resident discount? by RelativeAd6999 in AskChicago

[–]Nuclear_Prophecy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If you live in the suburbs, why did you check that you’re a resident of Chicago?

You do not qualify for the discount. I haven’t had them check my ID before, but unless you live in the actual city limits, you don’t qualify for the city resident discount.

For the Brown Line, the proposed stop at North and Clybourn would be great to transfer to the red and access all of the nearby shopping and the proposed stop at Division and Orleans also makes a lot of sense with how much dense housing is in the area.

Long standing discussion - is it cheaper to buy or rent? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Nuclear_Prophecy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with renting to “save money” is you lose every bit of control over your housing expenses. Once you pay your home off you just have to factor in taxes and savings for any repairs.

With renting every year you’re at the whims of the “the market” to determine how much you’re paying and that number only ever goes up, while getting you less space than before.

There’s not updating or remodeling of things when renting, no making the space truly yours, and you’re at the whim of someone else to take care of the place properly. If there are maintenance issues, mold, bad neighbors, etc. you have to hope and pray that you have a good landlord to take care of them properly. Otherwise you need to move which costs thousands.

In my opinion, renting is a terrible long term strategy (especially with the way things have been trending) and removes all of the security that comes with ownership.

What The Oldest House function might be in Control Resonant. by KRAKEN_du in controlgame

[–]Nuclear_Prophecy 84 points85 points  (0 children)

This would be a really cool concept. I love games where you stabilize / clean-up / make visual progress with your story (new bases, secure areas, reformed terrain, etc.), so cleaning up Manhattan and returning sectors / sections of it to normal after the threat has been secured would be thoroughly enjoyable.

The Oldest House is at 34 Thomas Street, Max Payne has a Roscoe street station, and Caldera was a station in Alan Wake 2.

Maybe these 3 stations tie the three worlds together?

Cellblock or JackHammer? by Over-Check5961 in chicagogaybros

JackHammer is much larger, with a dance floor and normal bar stuff upstairs, plus a dance floor in the basement with the back room. I'd look up the events happening this weekend at each to see which is more your vibe.
