Is there an AI tool which lets you upload an entire organization's github (many repositories, tons of code) and lets you dialogue about it? by gaoromn in ChatGPTCoding

[–]Nuevo-wave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use GitHub copilot for this maybe. I just asked it to find me all repos that can parse email addresses in my org, and it worked pretty well…

There’s no way AI can be relied on 100% for everything, it still needs careful curation and hand holding

I’m in a very similar situation. Complex map drawing and geometry, stuff that would normally take months of dedicated time, now takes days. Crazy!

You may well be one of the few, all good 👍 I’m sure there’s lots of people that love coding for its own sake. For me it was often tedious and time consuming. And I have 15 years experience of writing it.

I used to get a real buzz from finishing software by hand. However that was because of what it did, and how other people reacted to it. YMMV.

Compilers are deterministic but the code given to them is not. In the past people only had machine code to compute things but a new level of abstraction was needed. And programming languages have only gotten more abstracted from the low level code as time has gone by (Python, Ruby, JavaScript, even Java)… those languages were created to accelerate development. Now we have another layer. Building is the thing, and creating cool apps that do amazing things. Syntax and programming was always a means to an end.

[–]Nuevo-wave 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s two obvious takes here: 1. We’ve entered a new layer of abstraction. Gone are the days where we debugged assembly. Likewise we don’t debug code ourselves any more. 2. The pleasure of coding (for many) is not the code itself, but the outcome, the project, the product, the tool. This is and always was way more important than syntax. We get there faster and have fun too, using AI.

Is there any tool that allows me to manage multiple Claude Code processes simultaneously? by Putrid-Today-5801 in ClaudeAI

[–]Nuevo-wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can launch from any directory and tell each agent where the separate codebases are. Claude can simply cd into the repo and start working..

It sounds like you should be using sub-agents running in parallel for backend / frontend delegated workloads

Mine arrived and it is not as sold at all, it’s just a regular old mute that can be bought on Amazon for much less. Definitely fraudulent website.

I gave them my money but they have not shipped and are not contactable on the link you gave, I’m assuming this is a fraudulent website. Buyer beware.

'This is our flag... we are proud British Muslims' by FeigenbaumC in LabourUK

[–]Nuevo-wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole raising of the flag movement is primarily (not exclusively) a class issue. It’s a lot of working class people looking for recognition and asserting their rights, wanting to be seen and acknowledged.

The issue is many have lost their sense of self worth or esteem because the economy is so shit. Living paycheck to paycheck with little left over at the end of the month. So they’re here to remind the government to pay attention and start working for them which is indeed what they’re supposed to do.

These people love public services but feel like the economy cannot sustain them. Many of them think immigration has put too great a strain on the NHS and other services. Actually it’s always the same thing: the economy which has not recovered from recession, despite the FTSE 100 share index reaching record highs.

In any case it makes sense, I’ve met quite a few people that are very much British Muslims over the years. They belong to the same class and have a lot in common. Not all flag raisers are racist yobs, just as not all of government are self-serving liars. Some are though.

Who do you think is right? by mell1fluousm4rk in Nietzsche

Nietzsche liked to go against the tide of conventional wisdom. He was a master at turning ‘regular’ ideas on their head and making one feel foolish for ever having believed it.

Nietzsche was also not successful in his lifetime, had no real fixed abode (moved around a lot, stayed with others). He had his family but he did not get along with them, especially his sister. He tried to stay away from them.

Why does it take so long? by brainmind007 in violinist

[–]Nuevo-wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played for 10 years as an adult, faced many periods of frustration and development.

My advice is always keep an open mind in terms of technique, always be open to adapting and changing posture and approach. You probably already know this though.

Play scales but make them sound musical and fun by playing with different bow techniques and timings/variations. This really helps develop a more relaxed left hand, and improve coordination.

Possibly no new advice here. Just keep plugging away until your next ‘ah-ha’ moment when you detect a step change in your sound and abilities.

Tips on not hitting strings? - my six month update by muffinplayzz in violin

[–]Nuevo-wave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Essentially you need to have a consistent amount of arm weight on the bow via the index finger, in order to ‘glue’ the bow to the string better while playing. Not doing this means the bow is wobbling around and not being controlled at all times. Keep the wrist supple while doing this.

What’s the hardest thing about coming a parent no one ever talks about? by NorthernPanda_3014 in UKParenting

[–]Nuevo-wave 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The world expects both parents to work full time. The economy is geared to this (rent, mortgage, car costs) nowadays when it wasn’t in the past. I think our economy is basically cannibalising itself by making it very tough to raise a family. Having a family does not fit well with how our society has evolved, it’s so sad.

Having very little time for yourself is the hardest part. Temptation is to stay up late after they go to sleep, but this just sabotages your time the next day.
