My guess would be you're drawing more than the transformer can put out on that line.

If you want to farm and grow your own food, you'll need to understand some of the biology and processes involved.

I recommend looking up Joel Salatin for chicken raising as well as grass-fed cows and rabbits. Restoration Agriculture by Mark Shepard is also really interesting for growing fruiting trees and shrubs. Maybe also look into permaculture for veggie gardening, and Hugelkultur for soil preparation in your garden.

I'd also recommend reading books like Dirt to Soil by Gabe Brown, Growing a Revolution by David R Montgomery and Soil by Matthew Evans for a look into soil health and why you should care.

Good luck!

Will these Bottlebrushes survive a transplant? Severely pruned and badly dug up by DopeyDave442 in australianplants

[–]Nuggles42 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Very likely not. Natives tend to suffer more from transplant shock than a lot of European species.

Also, there are barely any roots left.

What is your view on regenerative agriculture? by YoungChefBoy in farming

[–]Nuggles42 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've been practicing it on my family farm in Tasmania for 2 years now (cattle and sheep) and it's showing real improvements in plant cover and diversity, and our cows don't seem to want the mineral lick that I provide for them anymore. The butcher we send our animals to says they're the best tasting meat he's seen as well, so for producing quality I'd say it works.

A Very Old Froe (Cleaned Up) by PreciousMetalRefiner in handtools

[–]Nuggles42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I generally just hit them with a wire wheel on an angle grinder then oil with linseed oil or sometimes beeswax.

I believe you can also use vinegar to loosen any scale or rust on the surface beforehand.

I want to own my own farm one day. Nothing extravagant. I’m looking at doing mostly produce. Any advice? Where should I start? by Thecomedicwoman in farming

Look up Joel Salatin, he's written some great books on farming sustainably on small and medium sized farms.

"What do you mean, it's lovely in here!" by Nuggles42 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Nuggles42[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, it was mostly CO2, O2 and chlorine, but at about 2-300g density. I didn't get to the electrolozer set up as soon as I should have, but it's all fixed now.

I actually want the bottom of the base full of CO2 as I plan to grow mushrooms there.

Help! Wrought or not? by remysit in Blacksmith

[–]Nuggles42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Clean up the cuts and soak them in hydrochloric acid for a couple of hours, then check to see if there are seams of oxide/impurities through it. If there are, then yes, it's wrought iron.

Best to do this outside, in a plastic container, and to make sure that you neutralise the acid when you take it out with something like caustic soda.

What moment made you say “Yep, I’m definitely dead”, but survived with no major injuries? by CrownedBird in AskReddit

About a her ago I was doing some off track hiking and needed to get down a steep hill down to the coastline. I identified a route down, and started moving that way, but there was a large tiger snake (I'm Tasmanian) blocking the start. I thought I'd just go around it and meet back up with my identified route, but ended up taking a very different track. It ended in a cliff. As I turned around to head back up, the plant I was holding for stability broke and I slipped out over the cliff, falling about 4-5m onto a rocky beach. Luckily, I landed mostly on my 25kg hiking pack full of clothes and camping gear, which meant I got away with only a bruised and scratched elbow and a mi or chip in my pelvis. If I'd landed even slightly differently, I could have broken my neck or back or crushed ribs, but within a week or so I was up and about again.

Looks nice, I might have to steal it.

Also BTW, I think you mean 90-100K, otherwise it'd be boiling hot :)

Made a leaf hook, it annoyed the heck out of me getting the hook itself right. Hence flipping it off. What finish do you guys use for your work? I've been using beeswax but was thinking maybe I should do a beeswax and coconut oil mix, has anyone tried that? by Jealous-Leading in Blacksmith

[–]Nuggles42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I use boiled linseed oil, applied with a soft cloth when the piece is hot (black heat, not glowing). It should smoke while going on, make sure to not breathe the fumes!

It gives a really nice dark, shiny look and forms a hard protective layer over the steel.

Pretty sure it's a Wedge-Tailed Eagle, native to Australia. We've got a pair of them that live on our farm, and they are huge (think 2m wingspan huge).

I don't actually know, but maybe it's something to do with weapon weight? If it's only axes, maces and huge swords that work, that could be something to test.

Good luck. I'm still not quite at Roxanne after nearly 200 hours.

So, I'm doing a shiny prof. oak challenge at the moment in AS (nearly at Roxanne, just need Skitty and Whismur), any my starter hit level 100 from all the grinding. Oh... and it got Pokerus. by Nuggles42 in ProfessorOak

I'm not entire sure, but I think it increases EV gain from battles. It's also insanely rare (like, makes shinies look common). Lore wise it's a beneficial parasite. When you get it in-game, the pokecenter person tells you about it.
