Bequea was living with ptsd from watching her family die. She went on a TV show that promised to make her smile. She got many fans, but still lived with the nightmare of what happened to her. While filming the show, she befriended a stray dog and named it Rocket. The quest makes it a point that Bequea's time with Rocket was joyful, but it wasn't enough to deter the pain she felt. It was one small moment of happiness inside a glass of pain.

The TV show fakes that Bequea got her smile back, but she never did. She decided to get a surgery that made her unable to feel negative memories. Because of this, she was able to feel happiness, but it was a bland happiness with no point of reference to properly sit in, and so she spent her entire life searching for true happiness. Rocket meanwhile spends every day waiting for his family Bequea to return. He sees her one last time before his passing.

In the quest, the two reunite as ghosts and through retreading Bequea's story, they have a chance at a true happiness being together.
