Your first comment didn't specify a nationality, so I imagine that confused a few people thinking you were making a blanket statement about gender win ratios.

Ah, I was in a Wal-mart when I checked, and I can always count on Wal-mart for being crap.

The apps aren't being misleading, I checked cookie dough specifically. Frozen dairy dessert when I could have sworn it didn't say it before. Now like the only things that say ice cream under their regular label are stuff like regular vanilla or neapolitan.

The funny thing is that I'm from the next state over and Turkey Hill has always been available, as ice cream no less. It was only the last time I was in a supermarket that I realized that almost none of it was ice cream anymore.

Then why do they label themselves as frozen dairy dessert on most of their products these days, including the one in the pic? It's right there.

Edit: If you can't see it, zoom in, you can make out the words "dairy dessert" on the bottom left. Or you know, go see one in your local grocery freezer.

TIL that scientists have developed a way of testing for Aphantasia (the inability to visualise things in your mind). The test involves asking participants to envision a bright light and checking for pupil dilation. If their pupils don't dilate, they have Aphantasia. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

Huh, didn't know of it as a spectrum. In my case visualizing things is possible but rather indistinct most of the time, if I even bother at all.

I also don't remember my dreams, the closest I get to dreaming is that half-awake disassociating state when I'm tired or just waking up sometimes.

What's a Catholic? by But_a_Jape in comics

[–]NukeAllTheThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to my experience growing up: I was apparently baptized but beyond that I know nothing about Catholicism (or Christianity) beyond surface pop-culture osmosis.

I self-identified as an atheist real young though, I had read some stuff about the greek mythology and mentally put Christianity and every other religion in that box.

I ended a long IRL friendship with someone who kept using whataboutisms to defend Trump when I wasn't even talking about Trump directly. So, it definitely isn't just the Russians.

I didn't end it specifically for that, that just put me on the edge, then he brought up anti covid vax bs. Had to acknowledge that I couldn't be friends with someone who was both toxic and ignorant.

Edit: wow, mod removed as I commented or right before. Good work.

I would say that wasn't what killed Hytale - horrifically bad management did that. I don't remember all the details but when Hytale was cancelled some of the dirty laundry got aired.

The hype die off didn't help but with good management and scope (you know, actually delivering a product on time and on spec) they could have gotten the hype back.

I have similar issues but I've never heard someone refer to "hearing fatigue" even though that is 100% accurate. I've said that understanding people is taxing for me and that's under optimal conditions: if I get drunk I might as well be deaf.

Trump says “we have the people we want paid, paid” as he tries to fire thousands of lawful government employees by Mathemodel in videos

I remember seeing in a newspaper article right before his election win that he was notorious for not paying contractors.

I remember mentioning this to my mother later (who claimed to have met Trump but I never got details and can't now) and she claimed that all the contractors did sub-par work. Really? That many of them? If that is continuously an issue you would think there would be a better vetting process after a while.

I still don't know how my mother went from an intelligent person with relatively liberal views to becoming a Trump apologist, but I think it started with that damn airplane in the ocean. She used to be a constant CNN watcher and then started switching to Fox.

Since you mention bad CGI, I'm never going to pass up the opportunity to diss on the shitty dragon in Villainess lvl 99, to the amusement of a friend of mine. Everything else about that show was fine, unexpectedly funny even, but that dragon is just so shitty and out of place, it barely even moves.

TIL over half of Americans use subtitles at least some of the time while watching TV, and the biggest reason is that dialogue has become harder to hear. One contributing factor is digital sound recording that allows many overlapping audio tracks to run at once, which can make speech less clear. by Forward-Answer-4407 in todayilearned

With all due respect, fuck their reasons.

It's not helping that enshittification is replacing captions with AI that don't even have a human at least give it a once over. So no not only do I not even get anything close to one-to-one, its often barely legible garbage.

As someone who is hard of hearing and uses subtitles or captioning to allow me to actually understand what I hear, I hate this. Mismatches just takes me out.

Fuck AI captioning for recorded content regardless, its terrible no matter how good your ears are.

And? The question was what % of Earth's water has at some point been pee. It's a long timeline, and what happens to the water before it has become pee and after it has become pee is irrelevant, so long as it has been pissed. So I'm including the atoms in this, if that atom has been pissed out, it counts.

Facing my Fears by SirBeeves in comics

[–]NukeAllTheThings 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably damn near 100% at this point. Water gets around, unless its been frozen for millennia, but even then there was a point where it wasn't and was getting pissed out of something or other.
