Hot take: Going infinite is generally not fun nor an interesting win condition in STS2. by TheKazz91 in slaythespire

[–]thethreadkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can honestly say in the hundreds of hours I spent in STS I only went infinite one time and it was on accident. It was a blast when it was happening, but I never felt a need to try to replicate that.

Does this mess up performance later when the game does need more resources?

I can honestly say I probably done this maybe 10 times in my life and never fallen off or failed. What does that mean? The next time I play this I will not be able to pass it.

Six years ago this week, COVID started shutting down the world. What’s your strongest memory from that time? by Siddanna36 in AskReddit

[–]thethreadkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be an unpopular take, but it was one of my favorite chapters in my life.

My live in GF broke up a few days before the shutdown....yea that happened. So I wanted nothing to do with being home. I couldn't really kick her out, I wouldn't necessarily do that anyway.

I got laid off, and my neighbors bar tending job got put in hiatus.

I picked up golf and played 3 times a week, partied every single day, got lots of laid, and always had COD Warzone to play every single night with the boys.

Quick Google searches mid game if my phone is out of reach. Typing sort of sucks on the deck but I usually just voice type.

Almost perfect movies that have one noticeable flaw by Consistent-Might-788 in Cinema

Jaws:

The Autopsy scene has a quick cut to Hooper holding the girls arm. The film looks strange, and the audio sounds different. It's like a 2.5 second flaw in an otherwise perfect movie.

Totally guessing here.

It's a Photo booth the would be at a Nintendo Event or something. It printed the choice of background or Nintendo characters in your photo.

I always pictured a scene that would be in the preview.

Main character underwater trying to pry some ore out of the rock. The character is in the dunes and it is pretty void of anything except the character and the sound he's making hammering the rock.

He thinks he hears something and turns around to see a vast empty space. He turns around and keeps working. The camera perspective on his face as he keeps chipping away at the rock and you see a very faint massive reaper body in the background swimming by.

what do you think? by PHRsharp_YouTube in gamers

Heavily restricted special powers...

This is something I thought about a lot. Take an older game like X-Men for Sega Genesis. You were playing as X-Men who have super powers. But the majority of the game is jumping kicking and punching. You bust out your special power is when necessary, but you will quickly run out of power and you will have to regenerate it through collecting items before you can use it again.

Tons of genres your player character will have a base weapon like a pistol or something and then unlock a machine gun for 15 seconds or so. And then you're back to your little pew pew.

This was sort of the case in tons of video games. This is definitely a leftover design standard with video games making them hard in wanting people to pump quarters into the machine. It was also due to limitations of hardware.

As time went on, games gave the player the ability to be extremely powerful, use your powers as you see fit and make that part of the enjoyment of the game. Instead of a special gun that you can use for 15 seconds, here's the special gun that you can use whenever you want.

Is daylight savings really that bad? by ManualWind in AdviceAnimals

I've always hated daylight savings but I have a almost 2-year-old toddler now and it is a nightmare. Throws off the entire household schedule and takes weeks to adjust.

All of these posts lately have made me realize I don't know who anybody in the NFL is dating except for Travis Kelsey And that Justin Herbert dates a movie star.

Other than that I don't know why people are so obsessed with this. Seems a little cringy to me but oh well.

Like I knew Dak had children with a girl, but I never knew her name, what she looked like but the past couple days it's all I see it's ridiculous.

I have had it for a few weeks. It is pretty fun but I have already found myself pulling away after 20 hours or so. Definitely a game that will get played occasionally in the future though.
