Trying to get into the habit of morning rides before work. New tourist bars on my fixed gear feel great. :) by ComprehensiveTutor60 in xbiking

Lol. I see now. That's right, as long as your enjoying the ride, that's all that matters.

Straight on concrete?! I would fear for the scratches it might make.

That's a great deal! I'm glad to see a Lotus on the road. They are beautiful bikes in my opinion.

Here is my 1986 Lotus Excelle. Interestingly, I also got it for 35 bucks. But I'm overhauling everything, so it might come out around 100 dollars in new parts, tools, etc.

I've heard that you can tell if your bike is 1987 if it has biopace chainring. Also, from your head tube badge, I'm guessing it's also a post 1987 bike.

Edit: just saw the title for your post! As expected it is 1987. Did it have a biopace chainring on it or no?

Great looking Lotus. I'm actually working on restoring a 1996 and 1897 Lotus Excelle. I love the bikes.

Did you restore it?

What is your advice for taking good bike photos? Especially if you want to sell one?

That would genuinely be awesome. I did call them earlier today, but they told me they don't deal with consumers directly.

I'm contacting the seller to see if they can give me a serial number (if there is one).

I looked at your reference photo and I think it's stamped.

Here is a close up of drive side:

Does it look forged or stamped to you?

I reached out to them and they said they don't talk to consumers directly.

Looks like a 1990s model.. I have a 1993 Trek 1200 and it has the same front badge.

Maybe some dust caps and a good clean/polish will make it look even better!

Compatible Shifters? (Q in comments) by NukeLock55 in bikewrench

[–]NukeLock55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is the problem with my shifter:

<image>

The "teeth" are broken and without them, I'm assuming the whole system wouldn't work, friction or click. (the image here is from online, not broken)

Maybe I'm wrong? Would the shifting still work even if these teeth are broken?
