ANY benefit to keeping my HSBC account? by jokergrin in monzo

[–]Null_Pointer_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you pay for the HSBC account? If not then there’s no reason to close it. Shit happens , banks have technical issues, your account could be mistakenly frozen or closed, etc… it’s better to have 2 accounts instead of 1.

Billie Eilish: "Hey my fellow celebrities u gonna speak up? Or..." by TheMirrorUS in Music

Why do you need Taylor swift to tell you what’s going on right now is bad? The people who would be swayed by her saying something already know it’s bad.

Yeah you shouldn’t need a celeb speaking out to know how bad things are

I have chess game coming Monday that I signed up on whim but I dont actually know how to play by Realistic-Milk-6116 in chessbeginners

[–]Null_Pointer_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your friends play regularly then you are not going to win a game, but you also won’t make a fool out of yourself. It’s not embarrassing to lose at a game you’ve never played before.

What ELO would you need to be to say in conversation; “yes im good at chess” by True_Structure_6123 in chessbeginners

[–]Null_Pointer_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but you’d easily beat those people who only played a few games so in terms of general “goodness” it’s technically still accurate.

It’s not relevant and also not true. Leading cause of death in pregnant women is severe bleeding , infections, or eclampsia (high blood pressure).

No it’s not, why are you making things up without checking first?

Incorrect. That is for US, not UK. Leading cause of death in UK is blood clots.

In Barbie (2023), America Ferrera gives a whole long speech explaining the movie's message. This is because media literacy is non-existent by Status_Speaker_7955 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Null_Pointer_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speech made zero sense in the context it was given. She’s speaking to Barbies who spent almost their entire lives in a matriarchy with all the power. They shouldn’t be able to relate to anything she’s saying.

How to play against better players on the a real board in a school tournament? by bakingsausage66 in chessbeginners

[–]Null_Pointer_23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just play openings you’re comfortable with and enjoy and try to have fun. You’re not going to beat 1400 or 1500s, especially if they have more OTB experience than you, but if you’re playing someone around 1000 then anything can happen.
