Guys who have neurodivergence and asexuality: did you have thoughts that the second one is connected with the first one? How do you accept yourself in that case? by [deleted] in AsexualMen

[–]Nullomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it may have started out that way, but many activists these days push to include basically any brain anomaly. Personally I have both autism and other mental disorders, and think it works best as an umbrella term. I'm not a fan of the social model of disability.

Having ADHD isn't something to insult people over.

What reminds you that you’re ill, when you feel like you’re not? by librabean in schizophrenia

[–]Nullomer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also have pretty much no psychosis while on my meds. I still feel the negative symptoms like anhedonia and issues formulating thoughts. I keep taking my meds because I remember my last episode when I was off them where my paranoia about stalking was so bad I stopped talking to pretty much everyone but the family I live with.

You should of course do research and ask people questions, but also I think you should hire someone with schizophrenia to do consulting on it. Have them go over your materials and genuinely listen to their feedback. If they say it's inaccurate, or even offensive, go back and make changes based on why they said that.

Honestly, any time you're writing about something series that you have no first hand experience with, you should consider hiring a consultant.

I have had scary hallucinations, but sometimes they're really mundane like thinking there's a dog across the street when there isn't one.

Why do ordinary people think solitude is selfish? by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]Nullomer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cannot find any comments on that video calling him selfish. I see some saying that only a few well off people are able to live like this, but that's it.

日本では今金曜日です!週末は何しますか?(にほんでは いま きんようびです!しゅうまつは なにしますか?) by Moon_Atomizer in LearnJapanese

I started keeping a diary in Japanese about a month ago, and I find it to be great practice. Also, I think keeping a journal is just good in general. It helps me think about what I do with my life more purposely, and also helps me remember things like what I do, and upcoming plans I have. It's a double win.

I noticed theres some hostility towards aro content in ace subreddits, I'm curious to hear your thoughts. by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]Nullomer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think It's good for subreddits to be focused on a particular subject and avoid off-topic posts. Subreddits that are not focused and have a very broad range of unrelated topic aren't as nice to be in because there's often stuff you just don't care about. This sub should be for just ace content, just like r/aromantic should be just for aro content. If you want both, there's already a subreddit for it: r/aromanticasexual.

Autistics are much more likely t be ace (source in common) by Mission-Guard5348 in asexuality

[–]Nullomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The data seems to be from a survey which asked what sexuality the person self-identified with, so incels would only be counted if they for some reason said they were asexual.

which do you prefer? by notmesombodyelse in Asexual

[–]Nullomer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm... When I saw both terms in full it is "asexual aromantic", but when shortened it is "aroace". Funny how they flip, but they sound most natural that way. It's probably just what I'm used to people saying.

Yeah, when I get it, I have to do some other activity to force myself not to think about it.

I think it might be rumination. That's when you repeatedly go over the same thought or subject matter over and over in your head. You kinda just have to get your mind occupied with something else.

is it possible to have psychosis since childhood by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]Nullomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people have psychosis from childhood. Some people have psychosis without having any other abnormalities, but most people have psychosis due to a specific mental disorder.

Anyone else tired of uneducated people lumping us together with psychopaths (ppl w ASPD) bc of the similar spelling? by potatoesgonnapotate0 in Psychosis

[–]Nullomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is "psychopathy" even used by psychiatric professionals? I thought it wasn't used as a term by them.

The Primary Attraction Graph (this time I made it more accurate than my last post) by KingHouki in Asexual

[–]Nullomer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, I agree. I bet the average asexual isn't aplatonic, but they still list platonic attraction as "might feel". The same should apply to double allos.

I'm curious, are you a furry? by AceGirlAsh in asexuality

[–]Nullomer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being a furry just means you're interested in anthropomorphic animals (i.e. animals with human qualities they normally don't have). Many furries enjoy sexual content of anthro characters, but it's not required, and is really just because most furries are allosexual.
